Who is Zuria Vega?

When the comedy drama “Mi Marido Tiene Familia” was released in 2017, one of the main characters immediately caught the eye of the audience. It was the character of Julieta Aguilar, a young woman whose relationship with her boyfriend Robert became problematic, after they rented a house from a very eccentric family. Fans of the series wanted to know more about the actress who portrayed this funny character, not just because of her acting talent, but also because of her stunning beauty.

Zuria is an actress with over 25 credits to her name, and besides the mentioned role, she is perhaps known best for her role as Roberta in the TV series “Sexo y Otros Secretos”, while she’s also been seen starring in numerous movies, including “Elvira I Will Give You My Life But I’m Using It”, “Casi Una Gran Estafa”, and “For Better, For Worse” among others.

Early life, family, and education

Zuria Valeria Vega Sisto was born under the zodiac sign of Capricorn on 10 January 1989, in Mexico City, Mexico, where she was raised by her parents, Mexican father Gonzalo Vega, and Spanish mother Leonora Sisto, alongside her sister Marimar Vega, who is also an actress, and her brother, Gonzalo Vega Junior, also an actor. Zuria also has a half-sister, Gabriela Vega Tovar, from her father’s previous relationship, about whom little is known.

Zuria aeveloped an interest in performing from an early age, and it isn’t surprising that she followed in her father’s steps, who is a famous Mexican director and actor, and who supported her dream of becoming an actress; she made her acting debut in the play “La Senora Presidente”, directed by her father, Gonzalo Vega.

Speaking of her educational background, Zuria attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2007, she didn’t enroll in college but pursued her acting career.

Roles in series

Zuria made her television debut in 2007, portraying Roberta in the series “Sexo y Otros Secretos”, followed by her role as Renata Higareda Fontana in “Alma de Hierro”, which was broadcast until 2009, after which Zuria was cast to play Estrella Marina Briceno in the drama series “Curse by the Sea”, also starring Ninel Conde and Mariana Seoane.

Her next role came in 2011, when she portrayed Magda Saenz in “El Equipo”, followed by her role as Valerie in “Cloroformo” in 2012, and that same year, Zuria was seen as Luciana Jacinto in “A Shelter for Love”.

In the following year, Zuria acted in “Que Pobres Tan Ricos”, followed by her role as Abigail in “Ask God for Forgiveness…Not Me” in 2015, and then she guest-starred in “Simply Maria” (2016) and “Las 13 Esposas de Wilson Fernandez” (2017), before she was cast to play her most notable role to date, as Julieta in “Mi Marido Tiene Familia”, which brought her a nomination for the Premios TVyNovelas Award for Best Actress in a Telenovela (Mejor Actriz), in 2019.

Her most recent role was her portrayal of Juana Manuela in the Netflix series “The Five Juanas”, also starring Renata Notni and Oka Giner, which brought Zuria international recognition. The series follows a story about five women with the same birthmark, who are determined to discover the truth about their pasts, and so reveal the lies spun by a powerful politician.

Zuria will be seen starring in a new TV mini-series, “El Refugio”, to be released in Mexico on 23 June 2022, on StarzPlay.

Roles in movies

Zuria made her first movie appearance portraying Gabriela ‘Gaby’ Sanchez in the 2010 movie “Sin Ella”, followed in 2013 by her role as Julia in “I Don’t Know Whether to Slit My Wrists or Leave Them Long”, a comedy drama written and directed by Manolo Caro.

Her next role came in the 2014 movie “Darker Than Night”, which was nominated for the Ariel Award, Mexico for Best Special Effects.

In the same year, Zuria was cast to play Ana in another Manolo Caro comedy “Elvira I Will Give You My Life But I’m Using It”, and then in 2017, she was seen as Elena in “Casi Una Gran Estafa”, followed in 2018 by her role in “The Tenants”, while in the following year, Zuria portrayed Valeria in “For Better, For Worse”.

Her most recent role has been her portrayal of Marcia in the movie “Y Como Es El?” in 2020, while it’s announced that she will be starring in a new movie, alongside a famous actress, Salma Hayek.

Love life and relationships

There have been various rumors concerning Zuria’s love life, that she’s been romantically linked to various men from the entertainment industry. It’s known that she was in a relationship with famous Mexican actor Mario Cimarro, although it isn’t revealed how long they were dating, before they broke-up sometime in 2008.

From 2008 until 2011, Zuria dated another Mexican actor, Jorge Poza, known for his role in “Bandidos”, then after they separated, Zuria was in a relationship with Pablo Lyle, also a famous Mexican actor – the two dated for a few months in 2012.

In the following year, it was rumored that Zuria was seen with Carlos de la Mota, a Dominican actor known for his role in “Destilando Amor”, however, neither Zuria nor Carlos confirmed that they were more than just friends and colleagues.

On 22 November 2014, Zuria married Cuban actor Alberto Guerra, who is perhaps known best for his role as Comandante Federico Benitez in the Netflix series “Crime Diaries: The Candidate”. Alberto was born on 5 December 1982, in Havana, and began his acting career starring in Telemundo’s series “Vale Todo”; this 39-year-old is today one of the most popular telenovela actors.

Zuria and Alberto have two children together – their first child, daughter Lua, was born on 11 January 2017, and their son, Luka, was born on 20 May 2019.

As of June 2022, Zuria is still married to Alberto, and they’re raising their children together.
