Wolfgang is an American actor, probably best known to the world as Trig Carson in the film “The Half of It” (2020), and as Nick in the film “Feel the Beat” (2020), among several other notable roles that he’s secured so far in his career.

Wolfgang Novogratz was born on 9 May 1997, in Manhattan, New York, USA, the son of Robert Novogratz and his wife, Courtney. His parents are famous real estate entrepreneurs and interior designers who came to prominence through the Bravo reality TV show “9 By Design”.

Wolfgang is the oldest of seven children, and is the nephew of Wall Street billionaire Mike Novogratz.

He grew up in Manhattan, but the family moved to Los Angeles in his teenage years. While there, he attended Harvard-Westlake School and played for the school’s basketball team, the Wolverines. He was one of the best players in his senior year, leading the team to the CIF Division IV state championship. Wolfgang was also interested in acting, and appeared in a number of school plays.

After high school, he moved to London, where he enrolled at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, then after completing his studies, Wolfgang returned to Los Angeles and found himself working in theatre. He appeared in several plays, including “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike”, and “This is Our Youth”, among others.

Career Beginnings

At just 13 years old, he began appearing in the reality show “9 By Design” alongside his parents, and the following year he featured in another show run by his parents, “Home by Novogratz”.

However, he only made his acting debut at 20 years old, as a Young Boy in the short fantasy film “Buckets”, written and directed by Julia Jones, co-starring Olivia Nikkanen and Martin Harvey. The film was quite popular, winning Julia the Jury Award at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) for Best Narrative.

After the successful debut, Wolfgang made his feature debut in the award-winning action crime-comedy film “Assassination Nation”, which starred Odessa Young, Abra and Suki Waterhouse, written and directed by Sam Levinson.

The same year, he appeared in an episode of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated TV comedy series “Grown-ish”, which is a spin-off from the TV series “Black-ish”.

Moreover, he portrayed Drew in the Netflix-produced modern retelling of the popular play “Cyrano de Bergerac”, entitled “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” and which starred Shannon Purser in the titular role, accompanied by Kristine Froseth as Veronica, and RJ Cyler as Dan.

The next year, Wolfgang co-starred with Natalia Dyer of “Stranger Things” fame in Karen Maine’s comedy-drama film “Yes, God, Yes”, about a religious teenager who struggles to keep herself away from committing a sin.

Wolfgang appeared as Foster in the award-nominated romantic comedy film “The Last Summer”, directed by William Bindley, while it starred K.J. Apa, Maia Mitchell and Norman Johnson Jr., about a group of friends who spend one last summer together before they all go to different colleges.

Rise to Prominence

Years of hard work and dedication finally paid off in 2020, when he was selected for the part of Trig Carson, the co-starring role in the award-winning Alice Wu’s coming-of-age romantic teen-drama film “The Half of It”, which also starred Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer and Alexxis Lemire. The film follows a girl who agrees to write a love letter for a high-school jock and send it to his crush. However, nobody knows that his crush is her crush too.

The same year, Wolfgang appeared in the award-winning comedy-drama film “Feel the Beat”, directed by Elissa Down, with Sofia Carson, Pamela MacDonald and Sonia Laplante in the lead roles.

His newfound glory earned him two guest appearances in talk shows, including “Group Chat with Jayden and Brent”, and “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, both in 2020.
