She gave birth to their first son Francis on 20 October 1988, but Veronica and Giannis soon moved to Greece and left the boy in the care of his grandparents. Veronica gave birth to their four other sons in Athens, Greece – Giannis isn’t the only one who’s succeeded in sports, as Athanasios Rotimi ‘Thanasis’ Antetokounmpo is today also a professional basketball player, currently playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Milwaukee Bucks.

He’s been nicknamed ‘Greek Freak’ for his strength, speed and size, and is rated one of the best players of all time; he’s today playing for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA, together with his brother Thanasis.

It was in 2007, aged 13 that Giannis began playing basketball in Athens; he’s revealed that he had a hard time fitting in because of his parents’ heritage.
