Steven Strait Bio
When the family comedy-drama “Sky High” was released in 2005, it soon become one of the most-watched Disney movies, and besides the lead roles starring Kurt Russell, Kelly Preston, and Michael Angarano, one of the favorites was the character of Warren Peace, a son of the supervillain, Barron Battle, known for his good looks and moody personality.
The fans wanted to know more about, as they noted, the handsome actor who portrayed this character, and if you are one of them, let us introduce you to Steven Strait, a model, singer, and actor with nearly 20 credits to his name, who besides the mentioned role is perhaps known best as James Holden from the series “The Expanse”, which was broadcast on Prime Video from 2015 until 2022.
Early life and education
Steven Strait was born under the zodiac sign of Aries on 23 March 1986, in New York City, USA; he holds American nationality, although he comes from a family of English, Italian and Dutch descent. Steven was raised in Greenwich Village, New York City by his parents Richard Dyer and Jean Strait, about whom, except for their names, nothing is known since they prefer to keep their lives private; Steven also hasn’t spoken about having any siblings, thus it’s assumed that he was raised an only child.
Steven had an interest in acting from an early age, and when 11, began taking acting classes in his elementary school, and then attended classes at the Stella Adler Acting Studio and the Black Nexxus Acting Studio, both in New York City.
Steven launched his modeling career during his teenage years, working for magazines such as Pop Magazine, L’Uomo Vogue, Surface and Details, among others, and some of the photographers he worked with were Ellen von Unwerth, Bruce Weber, and Herb Ritts. Although his modeling career was more than successful, Steven wanted to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor, as he said, he wanted to be more than ‘just a pretty face’.
Speaking of his educational background, Steven attended Village Community School and Xavier High School, then upon matriculating in 2004, he didn’t enroll in college, but moved to California in pursuit of an acting career.
Roles in series
Steven had already made his acting debut, portraying Teenage Bobby in an episode of the series “Third Watch” in 2001, but his next television role only came in 2010, when he was cast to play Jackson Leary in “Chase”, and then in 2012 and 2013, he portrayed Stevie Evans in the two-times Primetime Emmy-nominated crime drama “Magic City”, also starring Olga Kurylenko and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
In the following year, Steven guest-starred in two episodes of the series “Revenge“, before he was cast to play his most notable role to date, as James ‘Jim’ Holden in “The Expanse“, a mystery science-fiction drama that had 28 award nominations and won five.
Roles in movies
Steven made his first big-screen appearance in 2005, as Warren Peace in “Sky High”, which seemingly was his breakthrough role, and in the same year, he was cast to play Luke Falcon in “Undiscovered“, a musically romantic drama, which brought Steven a nomination for The Stinkers Bad Movie Award for Worst Song or Song Performance in a Film or End Credits, for the song “Smart In a Stupid Way”, which he sang with Ashlee Simpson.
However, this didn’t affect his acting career, and in 2006, Steven was seen as Caleb Danvers in “The Covenant”, also starring Toby Hemingway and Sebastian Stan, followed by his role as D’Leh in “10,000 BC” in 2008. In the same year, he was next cast to play Michael Colson in “Stop-Loss”, then in 2009, Steven portrayed Tony in “City Island”, followed by his role as Jonathan David in the 2010 TV movie “H. M. S: White Coat”.
In the following year, he was seen as Freddy in the fantasy drama “After”, written and directed by Ryan Whitaker, followed in the 2013 comedy-drama “Sleeping With the Fishes”, also starring Gina Rodriquez and Taylor Black – Steven was cast to play Dominic Sebastiani. Next, he was seen starring as Jones in “Hot” in 2016, followed by his role as Henry in “Life Like” in 2019, and in the same year, Steven played Michael in “Here Awhile”, a drama which follows the story of a terminally ill girl who returns to her hometown to reconnect with her estranged brother; it also starred Joe Lo Truglio and Anna Camp.
This was Steven’s most recent role, however, his fans will be happy to hear that he will be seen in a new movie, entitled “Five Below“, which is currently in post-production, and which should be released in early 2023.
Love life and wife
There have been various rumors concerning both his love life and his sexual orientation, but the rumors about him possibly being gay stopped after it was revealed that he was in a relationship with a girl named Gretchen Tune, whom he dated in 2002 and 2003.
After the two separated, Steven met his future wife, Lynn Collins, and after three years of dating, he proposed to her, and they married on 23 December 2007. However, they separated in March 2013, and divorced in December that year. The two kept their private life away from the media’s attention, and the reason for their divorce hasn’t been revealed.
In the following years, it was rumored that Steven was in a secret relationship with one of his fellow actresses, however, he hasn’t commented on these assumptions.
Sometime in 2019, rumors started about his marriage to Russian Super-model, Daria Zhemkova; several sources claimed that the two married while others were saying that it’s just speculation, however, Steven has neither confirmed nor denied the gossip.
So as of June 2022, it’s possible that Steven is married, at least has been married, but doesn’t have children.

Steven’s age is 36; he has brown hair and hazel eyes, weighs around 170lbs (77kgs) and is 6ft 2ins (1.88m) tall. When the third season of the series “The Expanse“ started, Steven’s fans noticed that he looked underweight – some believed that he was sick, some saying that he had been diagnosed with cancer, but was trying to hide that from the public, and there was also a theory that he’d lost weight due to lack of sleep – Steven hasn’t commented on these rumors.
