The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA)-nominated series “Loki”, was released in 2021, and the Marvel production fans were thrilled with this fantasy adventure about the funny bad guy Loki, however, besides Tom Hiddleston as Loki, people were amazed with the character of Casey, portrayed by Eugene Cordero, and wanted to know more about this actor.

Well, let us introduce you to this comedian, writer and actor with nearly 120 acting credits to his name, who is perhaps known best for his roles in movies such as “Kong: Skull Island”, “The Kings of Summer” and “The Mule”, among others, while television audiences still know him best for his role as Michael Newman from the series “Other Space”.

Eugene was born under the zodiac sign of Taurus on 12 May 1986, in Detroit, Michigan USA; he holds American nationality, and comes from a family of Filipino descent. He’s quite secretive when it comes to his personal matters, thus he hasn’t spoken much about his childhood, parents, and siblings, but it’s known that he grew up in Detroit, and that he has one sister, Jenny.

According to his Instagram posts, his father died in 2020, and on 13 December 2020, Eugene posted a photo featuring the two of them, Eugene as a baby and his father holding him in his arms, and wrote touching words, saying: ‘Happy Birthday Dad, we lost you 3 weeks before we got to celebrate together, but we are still going to celebrate you. He attended Brother Rice High School, and upon matriculating in 2003, Eugene moved to New York City, where he enrolled at Marymount Manhattan College, from which he graduated with a BA degree in 2007.

Before he launched his acting career, Eugene moved to Chicago, Illinois, and began with the improvisation theatre group Chicago City Limits, plus took classes at Upright Citizens Brigade, while he was performing as a member of their improvisational and sketch comedy group called ASSSSCAT.

Eugene made his first television appearance in the series “My Wife, the Ghost” in 2005, and in the following year guest-starred in an episode or two of series such as “Human Giant”, “The Office” and “The Back Room”, while from 2008 until 2012 he was seen as Trip Compton in “UCB Comedy Originals”, concurrently with his role in “College Humor Originals” from 2010 until ’13.

In 2014, Eugene was cast to play Everett in “House of Lies”, followed by his roles in “Hawaii Five-O”, “Drunk History”, and “Key and Peele”, before his recurring role as Michael Newman in eight episodes of “Other Space” in 2015.

Eugene guest-starred in “Teachers”, “Son of Zorn”, and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, concurrently with his role as Alex in five episodes of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” from 2015 until 2017, and was next seen as Errol in the 2018 series “Wrecked”. He had a recurring role as Andy Myawani in 36 episodes of “Tacoma FD”, and as  Pillboi in “The Good Place” until 2020, and the same year, Eugene was seen as Scrooge in “Loafy”, before he was cast to play Casey in “Loki”.

He’s been heard as a voice actor in numerous series, including “The Great North”, “Central Park”, “Close Enough”, and “Star Trek: Lower Decks”.

Eugene made his acting debut as a Surf Shop Owner in the 2005 TV movie “The Adventures of Elton Bridge”, followed by roles in several short movies, before his role as a Poker Player in the romantic comedy “When in Rome” in 2010.

The same year, he was seen in “Furry Vengeance”, and then three years later, Eugene was cast to play Colin in “The Kings of Summer”, followed by his roles in “Afternoon Delight”, “Our RoboCop Remake” (2014), “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” (2016), and “Ghostbusters (2016).

Eugene’s role as Rele in 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island” is, for now, his most significant role; the movie was nominated for the Oscar- Best Achievement in Visual Effects, and the stars of the movie were Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and Tom Hiddleston, while the estimated budget for this motion picture was $185 million, while it earned gross worldwide over $550 million.

He spoke about his role in this movie, saying that it was a big deal for him, because he was surrounded by movie stars, and that he enjoyed working with Samuel L. Jackson, who was so nice to him, and helped him with his role.

In the following year, Eugene was seen as Luis Rocha in the crime thriller drama “The Mule”, directed by Clint Eastwood, and in 2020, he was cast to play Seth in “The High Note”, also starring Dakota Johnson, Kelvin Harrison Jr, and Tracee Ellis Ross, followed by portraying Greg in “Golden Arm” in the same year, which was his most recent movie role.

Love life and relationships

Eugene hasn’t been the subject of any rumors concerning his love life and sexual orientation, and it is widely known that he’s a married man. His wife is a comedy writer and actress Tricia McAlpin – the two married on 19 June 2011, in New York City, and became parents for the first time on 14 December 2016, when Tricia gave birth to their son, Quincy, and then their daughter in 2021, however, they haven’t revealed her name and exact birthdate.

Speaking of his wife, Tricia, she starred in the series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, and also wrote 40 episodes of the series. She was heard as a voice actor in the animated comedy “Monsters University”.

The two haven’t shared how they met, since they both prefer to keep their private lives away from the media’s attention, however, Eugene once said that the same interest in comedy is something that keeps them bonded.
