Who is Christopher Russell?

Canadian actor Cristopher Russell was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 8 January 1983, making his zodiac sign Capricorn. He’s had roles in over 70 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for his playing of Barrett in the 2005 science fiction horror movie “Land of the Dead”, written and directed by George A. Romero, and which starred John Leguizamo, Asia Argento and Simon Baker. It follows the last humans who are hiding from the living dead, in a walled city, and the movie won two of its 19 award nominations.

Education and early life

Christopher was raised by his British parents in Toronto, but being as secretive as he is, he doesn’t speak about them in public; it’s believed that his father opened his own fishing equipment store in Toronto upon moving there, and that his mother’s a housewife. He hasn’t spoken of having siblings, but most of Christopher’s fans believe that he was raised alongside his sister.

Christopher’s stated that he was three years old when he knew that he wanted to become an actor, and was 10 when he finally convinced his parents to start taking him to auditions; he launched his career aged 12, when cast to play Pruitt in the 1995 horror thriller movie “The Whispering”, however, Christopher then chose to focus on his education, so didn’t have any roles in the following nine years.

He attended a local high school in Toronto, and was mostly into sports during his time there, as he was on his school’s ice hockey team, and also played soccer and basketball. Upon matriculating in 2001, Christopher enrolled at college, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2005.

Roles in TV series

Christopher’s debut TV series role was his playing of The God in the 2004 pilot episode of the romantic comedy drama “Show Me Yours”, while he could then have been seen appearing in an episode of the romantic drama “Kevin Hill”, the mystery crime drama “Sue Thomas: F. B. Eye”, and the romantic drama “Beautiful People”.

The year 2006 saw him play Partier in the comedy “G-Spot”, which Brigitte Bako created, and in which she starred alongside Kimberly Huie and Heather Hanson. It follows an actress who’s trying to re-ignite her career, while her three best friends are helping her; the series aired from 2005 to 2009 and was nominated for two awards. Some of Christopher’s TV series roles in the remainder of the 2000s were in an episode of the action science fiction thriller “Bionic Woman”, the romantic comedy drama “Men in Trees” and the fantasy horror drama “Supernatural”.

In 2011 and 2012, he portrayed Barry in the popular action crime drama “Flashpoint”, which Stephanie Morgenstern and Mark Ellis created, and which starred David Paetkau, Amy Jo Johnson and Hugh Dillon. It follows the work of a police tactical unit from Toronto, the series aired from 2008 to 2012 and won 22 of its 110 award nominations. Christopher could then have been seen making a guest appearance in the romantic horror drama “Beauty and the Beast”, the comedy “Satisfaction” and the drama “Reign”.

In 2017, he was cast to play Panto Trost in the action adventure comedy “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency”, created by Max Landis, and which starred Samuel Barnett, Elijah Wood and Hannah Marks; it follows the life of detective Dirk Gently, and the series won five of its 14 award nominations.

Christopher’s three most recent TV series roles have been in the 2019 episode “The Reunion” of the romantic comedy drama “BH90210”, six episodes of the 2021 action horror drama “Day of the Dead”, and the 2022 episode “Pie” of the action crime drama “Reacher”.

In 2008, Christopher portrayed Sal in the popular romantic musical drama “Center Stage: Turn It Up”, directed by Steven Jacobson, and which starred Kenny Wormald, Rachele Brooke Smith and Sarah Jayne Jensen; it follows a dancer from Detroit, Michigan as she’s auditioning for a New York City’s ballet academy. Christopher appeared in only one other movie in the decade: the 2008 crime thriller “The Boy Next Door”.

In 2013, he was cast to play Troy Garnet in the romantic comedy “The Right Kind of Wrong”, which Jeremiah S. Chechik directed, and which starred Ryan Kwanten, Kristen Hager and Maria Menounos. It follows dishwasher Leo who’s fallen in love with a woman who’s about to marry, and the film won two of its three award nominations. A couple of Christopher’s following roles were in the 2013 family comedy drama “Catch a Christmas Star”, and in 2014 the romantic family comedy “Midnight Masquerade” and the drama “An En Vogue Christmas”.

He portrayed Jeremy Hoffbrauer in the popular 2015 romantic drama “Love, Again”, and could then have been seen playing the supporting character James in the 2016 romantic comedy “Wedding Bells”, directed by Gary Yates, and which starred Danica McKellar, Kavan Smith and Tammy Gillis; it tells the story of the maid of honor and the best man who’ve fallen in love.

Christopher’s three most recent film roles have been in the romantic drama “The Shell Collector”, and the romantic comedies “Love on Fire” and “Yellowstone Romance”, all released in 2022.

Christopher was featured in the 2020 short documentary movie “On Location – Love in the Forecast”.

He made a guest appearance in the 2021 episode “Interview: Christopher Russell” of the talk-show “The Man Cave Chronicles Podcast”.

Christopher’s quite secretive when it comes to speaking about his love life in public, but has still let his fans have a glimpse into it. He married his non-celebrity Canadian wife on 15 February 2004, in a small and private ceremony attended by not more than 100 of their closest family members and friends; even though Christopher occasionally features his wife in his Instagram pictures and videos, he’s managed to keep her name and profession hidden from the media’s attention. She gave birth to their daughter on 28 April 2013, and to their son on 23 October 2015; the children have been featured in many of Christopher’s Instagram pictures, but their names haven’t been disclosed.

He hasn’t mentioned other women whom he’s dated, as of November 2022, Christopher’s married and has two children with his wife.
