Hood partnered with Luke Hemming and Michael Clifford to write and upload several cover songs on the former’s YouTube channel. Ashton Irwin later joined the trio to create the band 5 Seconds of Summer. Subsequently, they signed with ATV/Sony Music Publishing and released their first single, “She Looks So Perfect”, on 5 February 2014, which was a hit, topping the charts in several countries including the UK. On 22 July 2014, the band released a self-titled debut album that topped the US and Australian Album Charts, then released their second album “Sounds Good Feels Good” on 23 October 2015 and their lead single entitled “Want You Back” was from their following album, which was released on 22 February 2018. They made one of their most popular releases, “Youngblood,” in June 2018.
2020 saw 5SOS releasing their fourth studio album, “Calm”, and it also became a hit, topping the UK, Australian and Scottish Album charts. Hood has written songs for several musicians and bands including “Ride It Out,” “Teenage Queen,” and “Wake Up” for the Makeout band, the South Korean singer Donghae, and Black Veil Brides band respectively.
