Early life, family, and education

Mark Indelicato comes from a family of Italian and Puerto Rican descent, and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, thus he holds American nationality. His parents, Mark Senior and Lynn Indelicato celebrated his birth on 16 July 1994, so he’s aged 28 as of 2022;. Mark is their only child.

Having an interest in acting from an early age, Mark’s parents supported his wish, and by the age of eight, he was already playing in the local theatre. Mark studied acting at The Actors Center in Philadelphia, and he also attended Dupree School of Music in the city.

Speaking of his educational background, upon matriculating from high school in 2012, he didn’t go to college. However, in 2016, he enrolled at New York University from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations in 2020.

Acting career

Mark made his acting debut as Berge in an episode of the series “Hack” in 2003. He followed with another guest role in an episode of “Chappelle’s Show” in 2004, and in the same year, he had a small part as a Kid on a Bike in the short movie “Disposal”.

In 2006, he was cast to play his most significant role to date, as Justin Suarez in “Ugly Betty”, appearing in 85 episodes from 2006 until 2010 – Mark was two times nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) – Supporting Young Actor in 2008 and ’09, and was also nominated for The American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor – Television Series, Mini-Series, or Television Movie in 2007, and the ALMA Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series in 2009.

Concurrently, Mark was seen as Antonio in the Disney series “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” in 2007.

After the last season of “Ugly Betty”, Mark guest starred in the series “Hot Cleveland” and “Oishi High School Battle” in 2012, and in the same year, he was cast to play Harvey Flynn in the TV movie “Madison High”.

Two years later, Mark made his big-screen debut as Mickey in the mystery thriller “White Bird in a Blizzard”, starring Eva Green, Shailene Woodley, and Christopher Meloni. The movie was based on the novel of the same title by Laura Kasischke, and follows the story about a teenage girl whose life falls apart after her mother has disappeared.

In 2016, Mark portrayed Blair Ramos in the series “Dead of Summer”, after which he took a break from acting to focus on studying.

Concurrently, Mark landed himself the role of Damien in the series “Hacks”, a comedy-drama starring Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins, which is currently airing on Max Original. The series – which had 105 award nominations and won 43, including six Primetime Emmys – follows Deborah Vance, a comedian from Las Vegas, and her new associate Ava, a young comedy writer, on their way to success.

Mark was seen as a contestant in the second season of “RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race” which premiered on 12 August 2022, and was a runner-up alongside a member of ‘Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean and Tatyana Ali, a famous “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actress.

Love life, relationships, and gay rumors

Like many celebrities, Mark’s been the subject of various rumors. When he began starring as Justin in “Ugly Betty”, he was the only gay-child character on television, and as Mark said, his role in the series provoked kids from his school who bullied him, and he even received death threats.

Mark realized as he grew up how important that character was for children all over the world who were confused about their sexuality. Mark is openly gay, and works to advance gay rights. According to him, after leaving acting and attending university, he considered becoming a lawyer; however, he decided to return to acting and accept as many gay roles as he could.
