Who is Lyndie Greenwood?

Canadian actress Lyndie Greenwood was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 6 June 1983, making her zodiac sign Gemini. She’s had roles in nearly 30 movies and TV series, and is probably best known for her playing of the lead character Jenny Mills in the popular action crime adventure series “Sleepy Hollow”, created by Phillip Iscove and Alex Kurtzman, and which also starred Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie. It follows the resurrection of Ichabod Crane, and his sending 250 years back into the past; the series aired from 2013 to 2017 and was nominated for 35 awards.

Lyndie’s still today active in the film industry, and has recently been cast to star in the upcoming comedy series “Shelved”.

Lyndie was raised in Toronto alongside her sister Nikki, by their parents about whom Lyndie rarely speaks in public, as she’s respective of their privacy; it’s believed that her mother was a psychologist, and her father the owner of a small business.

Lyndie was mostly interested in dancing while growing up, and attended a dance school; she was also into martial arts during her teenage years, and practiced several. It was when she was 15 that she became interested in acting, and began attending a musical theatre school in her hometown; upon matriculating in 2001, Lyndie went on to study acting at the University Settlement Drama Group, Etobicoke School of the Arts and Jason Fraser Studios, as well as at the Professional Actors Lab.

She simultaneously attended the University of Toronto, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006.

Roles in TV series

Lyndie’s debut TV series role was her playing of Admissions Nurse in the 2009 episode “Inside the Man” of the fantasy crime drama “The Listener”, and she could then have been seen playing Keisha in the episode “Bullet Proof” of the action crime drama “Rookie Blue” and Kelly in the  episode “Follow the Leader” of the action crime drama “Flashpoint”, both in 2010.

Between 2011 and 2013, Lyndie played Sonya in the critically acclaimed action crime drama “Nikita”, which Craig Silverstein created, and which starred Lyndsy Fonseca, Shane West and Maggie Q. It follows the life of an assassin, and the series won two of its 29 award nominations. Lyndie could then have been seen appearing in the 2014 episode “Another Man’s Wingtips” of the comedy “Partners”, and five episodes of the 2019 musical drama “Star”.

Since 2019, she’s been portraying Dr. Elvi Okoye in the mystery science fiction drama “The Expanse”, created by Daniel Abraham and Mark Fergus, and which stars Steven Strait, Dominique Tipper and Wes Chatham. Set in the 24th century, the series follows a group of people who are trying to prevent the destruction of the Solar System, and has won six of its 38 award nominations.

Roles in movies

Lyndie’s debut film role was her playing of Natalie Anders in the 2009 drama “Pinkville”, while the following year saw her portray Blake’s Girlfriend in the romantic musical drama “This Movie Is Broken”.

She gained recognition in 2010, when cast to play Jane’s Friend in the romantic drama “Sundays at Tiffany’s”, directed by Mark Piznarski, and which starred Alyssa Milano, Eric Winter and Kristin Booth. It follows Jane who’s soon to marry, but has now fallen in love with Michael, her imaginary friend who’s been given a human form. A couple of Lyndie’s following roles were in the 2010 short family action “Little Phoenix and the Fists of Fury”, the 2011 short mystery drama “Furstenau Mysteries” and the comedy drama “The Husband”.

The year 2017 saw her portray Adina Banks in the drama “Flint”, directed by Bruce Beresford, and which starred Queen Latifah, Marin Ireland and Betsy Brandt. It tells the story of a woman and her family as they’re dealing with the toxic water scandal in Michigan, and the film won four of its 27 award nominations.

Lyndie’s three most recent film roles have been in the 2019 drama “The World Without You”, the 2021 romantic drama “Every Time a Bell Rings”, and the 2022 romantic comedy “Girlfriendship”.

Lyndie’s made a guest appearance in talk-shows “Talking Dead”, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and “Hollywood Today Live”, amongst others.

Lyndie’s quite open when it comes to talking about her long-term relationship with American actor, producer and director Ben Jamieson, who’s probably known best for having produced a 2020 episode of the popular reality show “Escape to the Chateau”, and two episodes of the 2020 documentary series “Our Yorkshire Farm”.

Lyndie revealed that they were dating in October 2014, when she uploaded the first picture featuring them together, onto her Instagram account. They were spotted at Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Luzia’ at Atlantic Station on 15 September 2017, and on 15 April 2018, the two became engaged; it’s widely believed that they are waiting for the coronavirus pandemic to end, so that they can marry.

Lyndie hasn’t mentioned other men whom she’s been with; she’s engaged to Ben Jamieson as of November 2022, and doesn’t have children.
