Katherine Norland is an American actor, producer, writer, encouragement coach, and a YouTuber, who is probably known best for her role in the TV show “Malcolm in the Middle”.

Early life, family, educational background

Katherine – maiden name unknown – was born on 22 October 1973, in Saint Peter, Minnesota USA. Little is known about her parents who prefer to stay out of the limelight; the actress has posted pictures with them, but hasn’t revealed any details, respecting their privacy. She’s a Christian.

There’s not much information about Katherine’s childhood and early education. According to her LinkedIn profile, she attended Van Mar Academy in Los Angeles, California USA to study acting.

Career as an actor

Katherine debuted as an actress in 2000, when she appeared in the short movie “You’ll do”. In 2001, she starred in an episode of the TV show “Karaoke Nights” playing the role of a customer. In 2004, she landed a leading role in the feature film “FREE to a Good Home”, which paved her way to more serious roles. A year later, she appeared in an episode of the American sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” portraying the worker at the Tri-County Mom Pageant that was supposed to be a prank for a mother character, but ended up with her participating seriously.

In 2007, Katherine played the role of stewardess in the thriller/horror movie “Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck” which was directed by Michael Feifer. In 2010, she made a brief appearance in the movie “The Pendant” which was written and directed by Nick Carter. Katherine portrayed a ghost and performed alongside Michael ‘Mick’ Harrity, Nick Carter, and Mba Shakoor.

In 2013, the actress appeared in the movie “Reality Terror Night” which centers around five girls who win a contest to star in a new reality show, but they end up in a house that is haunted by a killer. Concurrently, she starred in a TNC reality show “Sex Sent Me to the ER”. In 2014, she played the role of Lucy Fer in the comedy series “Lottopalooza”.

In 2017, she appeared in an action/horror movie “Cannibal Corpse Killers”, playing the role of Scar in an apocalyptic America where demons are raging and unleashing possessed corpses to combat humanity. In 2018, she portrayed Kat in the movie “Magic Hour” which resembles a documentary in its style, and includes one-take scenes, structured improvisations, and real locations. In 2020, she made an appearance in the TV series “Tainted Shield: Los Angeles” playing the role of Dakota Galloway.

Since 2018, she has been working at Dhar Mann Studios, appearing in numerous videos, and portraying multiple characters.

Katherine won two awards in 2021: IndieFEST Film Award for Lead Actress and Las Vegas Black Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her work in the movie “The Light Dares to Desert Me”.

Career as a producer

Katherine debuted as a producer back in 2003, with the short movie “Love’s Lost and Found”. Later, she was a co-producer and author of the original story of the thriller film “For Rent”, telling the story of a family that moves into a new apartment and discovers that they aren’t alone.

From 2014 to 2015, Katherine produced movies such as “Life Is in the Blood”, “O’ Tickle Tree”, and “For Better or Worse”. In 2018, she was the co-producer of the movie “Magic Hour” and an executive producer of the film “Cannibal Corpse Killers”. Afterwards, she produced short movies such as “Nightshades” and “Tired but Grateful”.

Katherine has written three books – in 2008, she published her first book “Poetic Prescriptions for Pesky Problems” which focuses on religious solutions, and conveys the message through poetry. In 2019, Katherine published her latest book “Poetic Prescriptions for Plaguing Problems: Biblical Remedies for When Life Bites”, which teaches its readers how to unlock their full potential, and achieve everything God has intended for them.

Career as an encouragement coach

Katherine is also an encouragement coach too, leading a course “You Are Worthy” that teaches participants how to love themselves and become more confident. Her coaching concept is similar to the narrative expressed in her books, but this time she works more closely with her audience, enabling them to get personalized advice.

Career as a YouTuber

Katherine joined YouTube in 2006, but at the beginning,only uploaded acting-related content. In 2017, she started uploading videos regularly, usually involving encouragement coaching. Nowadays, she also shares her Dhar Mann videos on her channel.

Personal life

Katherine is married to Robert RT Norland who is a director of photography. They haven’t revealed when and how they met, but apparently fell in love and married in the early ’00s, and have been together ever since. They don’t discuss their relationship in interviews or on social media.

Katherine and Robert have two sons together: Timothy John who has special needs, and Elijah Zander.
