Who is Jake Borelli?

Jake was born in Columbus, Ohio USA, on 13 May 1991 – his zodiac sign’s Taurus, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor with close to 30 credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of Dr. Levi Schmitt in the popular romantic series “Grey’s Anatomy”, created by Shonda Rhimes, and which today stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. It follows the lives of several surgical interns and their supervisors, the series has been airing since 2005 (Jake joined the cast in 2017), and it’s won 88 awards, including four Primetime Emmys, while it’s been nominated for 241 other awards.

Early life and education

Jake was raised in Columbus alongside his older brothers Zack and Ben, by their father Mike and mother Linda; not a lot is known about Jake’s family, as he respects their privacy.

He was mostly interested in art while growing up, especially in painting, and was 17 when he won a national art competition; Jake then considered enrolling at art school, but chose not to.

He became interested in acting while attending Upper Arlington High School and was 16 when he made his debut film appearance, as Charlie Dawson in the 2007 short romantic drama “Peanut Butter”, while he was 18 when he made his debut TV series appearance, playing Teenage Shawn in all three episodes of the 2009 comedy “Psych: Flashback to the Teen Years”.

He matriculated in 2009, and applied to both Ohio State University and the University of California, Los Angeles; Jake was accepted at both, but still chose not to pursue a college degree, and instead began pursuing an acting career.

Jake played Roy in the 2010 episode “iSpace Out” of the romantic family comedy “iCarly”, and the same year saw him appear in an episode or two of various series, such as the crime drama “The Forgotten”, the comedy drama “Parenthood”, and the action crime drama “NCIS: Los Angeles”.

Jake played Harvey in the 2011 episode “Principal for a Day” of the family comedy drama “True Jackson, VP”, created by Andrew Gordon, and which starred Keke Palmer, Ashley Argota Torres and Matt Shively. It follows fashion executive Max who’s offered sandwich seller True Jackson to become vice president of his new apparel line, the series aired from 2008 to 2011 and won seven of the 18 awards for which it was nominated.

Between 2015 and 2018, Jake played Wolfgang in 13 episodes of the action comedy drama “The Thundermans”, created by Jed Spingarn, and which starred Kira Kosarin, Jack Griffo and Addison Riecke. It follows the lives of three siblings with superpowers, and the series won two of the 18 awards for which it was nominated.

Three of Jake’s most recent TV series roles have been in four episodes of the 2018 drama “Grey’s Anatomy: The Webisodes”, the 2019 episode “Watching Time Go By” of the drama mini-series “Tex Brown”, and six episodes of the romantic action drama “Station 19” between 2018 and 2021.

Roles in movies

Jake starred as Harlan in the 2011 short comedy “Elf Employment”, and the following year saw him play Josh in the romantic comedy “Nesting”, written and directed by John Chuldenko, and which starred Todd Grinnell, Ali Hillis and Kevin Linehan. It follows a couple in their 30s as they’re trying to rekindle their relationship.

A couple of Jake’s following roles were in the 2012 short drama “Meanamorphosis”, the 2017 romantic comedy “#Realityhigh”, and the 2018 adventure western drama “In Searching”.

In 2020, she portrayed Sam Basilli in the romantic comedy drama “The Thing About Harry”, written and directed by Peter Paige, and in which he starred alongside Niko Terho and Britt Baron. It follows two high school ‘enemies’ who have to drive to their mutual friend’s engagement party together, and the movie was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding TV Movie.

Jake’s most recent film role has been his portrayal of Tommy Boatwright in the 2021 drama “The Normal Heart”.

Love life and relationships

Jake prefers to keep the details of his love life away from the media’s attention, however, he still came out of the closet a couple of years ago.

He reveled that he was gay on Instagram in November 2018, only a couple of minutes after the airing of an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy”, in which his character revealed that he was gay.

He rarely talks about the men whom he’s been with, but it’s widely known that he’s today in a relationship with American photographer Chase Williamson, as the two have uploaded many picturesh featuring them together onto their Instagram accounts. Jake and Chase are both lovers of nature, and enjoy spending their spare time deep into the woods, and close to bodies of water.

Jake hasn’t mentioned any other men whom he’s perhaps been with, so as of August 2022, he’s in a relationship with Chase Williamson, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

One of Jake’s favorite hobbies is running his Instagram account; he’s today followed by close to a million people, while he’s uploaded nearly 1,000 pictures onto the network, most of which have been taken during his everyday life.

He’s physically highly active, and has multiple training sessions at the gym every week, thus his muscular body; he’s also following a somewhat strict diet, avoiding eating sweets and fast food.

Jake’s passionate about travelling, and has been to more than 10 US states, both for work and pleasure, while he’s also vacationed in a couple of European countries; his dream travel destination’s Stuttgart, Germany.
