Who is Guillermo Diaz?

If you are a fan of the popular series “Scandal”, then you must be familiar with the character of Huck, former black ops assassin for B613, a secret sub-division of the Central Intelligence Agency  (CIA), portrayed by Guillermo Diaz, who thanks to his great performance, got all the attention from the fans, and people wanted to know more about him.

If you are one of them, let us tell you all about this talented actor. Guillermo has over 100 acting credits to his name, and besides the aforementioned role, he’s perhaps known for his performance in “Cop Out”, “High School High” and “Half Baked”, among others.

Early life and education

Guillermo Diaz was born under the zodiac sign of Aries on 22 March 1975, in New Jersey USA, thus he holds American nationality, and comes from a family of Cuban descent.

He was raised in Washington Heights, Manhattan by his parents, about whom little is known, because Guillermo prefers to keep his family away from the media’s attention.

Talking about Guillermo’s educational background, he attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 1993, he didn’t enroll in college but pursued his dream of becoming a successful actor.

Guillermo made his acting debut portraying Villager in the 1990 movie “The Lost Platoon”, followed by his role as Spike in “Fresh” in 1994. Two years later, he was cast to play Eric in “I Think I Do”, and he then co-starred as Barry in “Gold Coast”.

In the following years, he had support roles in movies such as “Courts Mais GAY: Tome 9” (2005), “Seeking Solace” (2006), “Evilution” (2008), and “Peep World” (2010) among others.

From 2010 until 2015, he was seen as Campo Elias in “Without Men” in 2011, followed by his roles as Carlos in “2nd Serve” and as Clown in “She Who Laughs Last” in 2012. Then, he portrayed Detective Garsia in “Ticket to Vegas” in 2013, and co-starred in the short movie “Kharkay” in 2014.

In the following years, he was cast to play in “The Dating Game Killer” (2017), “Warning Shot” (2018), “All the Little Things We Kill” (2018), and “The Man with the Golden Gun: The Radio Play” (2020).

Guillermo followed with his role as Ben Weeks in “The Normal Heart” in 2021 before he made an appearance as Manny Rodriguez in “13 Graves” in 2022, his most recent movie role.

Roles in series

Guillermo made his first television appearance as Jorge in an episode of the series “ER” in 1995. In the same year, he was seen as Ari in “Party of Five”. Next, he made an appearance as a Salesperson in the popular series “The Sopranos” in 1999, starring James Gandolfini, Edie Falco and Lorraine Bracco.

In the early 2000s, he was seen in numerous series, including “Third Watch” (2002), “Chappelle’s Show” (from 2003 until 2006), and “Without a Trace” (2004).

From 2007 until 2012, he was cast to play drug dealer Guillermo in the series “Weeds”, which brought him the nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2009, which he shares with the rest of the cast.

During his role in the comedy series “Weeds”, he was also seen in “Mercy” (2009-2010), “Poor Paul” (2009-2011), “No Ordinary Family” (2010-2011), and “Love Bites” (2011).

From 2012 until 2018, he had the supporting role as Huck in the two-times Primetime Emmy-awarded series “Scandal”, which brought him the nomination for the American Latino Media Arts Award for Favorite TV Actor-Supporting Role in a Drama in 2012.

In the following year, Guillermo was nominated for Imagen Foundation Award for Best Actor, and for Image Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2014, ‘15 and ‘16.  He won the TV Guide Award for Fan Favorite Award in 2013, shared with the rest of the cast.

In 2019, he was cast to play Johnny in “Broad City”, followed by his role as Stan in an episode of “What Just Happened??!” in the same year.

In 2020, he was seen as Chuy in “United We Fall”. During 2021 and 2022, he co-starred as Sergeant William ‘Bill’ Brewster in “Law & Order: Organized Crime”, which was his most recent television role.

Love life and relationships

There have been various rumors concerning both Guillermo’s love life and his sexual orientation – it’s widely known that he is gay.

In one of his interviews, he said: ‘I went to school in the Bronx. I learned to constantly try to cover up the fact that I was gay. That façade of being somebody I’m really not just to protect myself definitely helped with acting’.

He prefers to keep his personal matters a secret, and thus he hasn’t shared any info regarding his previous relationships. Since 2005, he was allegedly in a relationship with a man named Mike Webb, about whom nothing is known. The couple shared several photos while dating each other, until in 2012 when rumors began about their break-up.

Guillermo hasn’t commented on these assumptions, and neither confirmed nor denied the end of his relationship with Mike. However, in the following year, they were seen together at the 47th Anniversary Gala Vanguard Awards at the Los Angeles’ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Centre.

As of August 2022, it seems that Guillermo is in a relationship, he hasn’t been married or engaged and doesn’t have children.
