Steve Harvey was born in Welch, West Virginia USA, on 17 January 1957, making his zodiac sign Capricorn. He’s probably best known for his achievements as a game-show host, especially for having hosted “Celebrity Family Feud” since 2008. The comedy game-show follows two teams of celebrities as they’re trying to guess what various surveys said, and has won two of its six award nominations.

American coal miner Jesse Harvey and his wife Eloise Vera raised their son Steve in Welch alongside his siblings Terry, Pauline and Mona; the family eventually moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Steve studied at Glenville High School, and upon matriculating in 1974, enrolled at Kent State University, eventually transferring to West Virginia University, but dropped-out a year later.

He then worked various jobs to financially support himself, including being a boxer, carpet cleaner and insurance salesman. Steve began working as a stand-up comedian on 8 October 1985, but still became homeless, living in his car for three years.

His luck changed in 1990, when he reached the finals in the Second Annual Johnnie Walker Comedy Search, which helped him become a host of the comedy “Showtime at the Apollo”; the series made Steve popular in only a few years, and he was then cast to star in the 1994 comedy series “Me and the Boys”.

He continued working as a stand-up comedian, and in 1997 toured with Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac and D. L. Hughley, which went on to become the highest grossing comedy tour of all time. In 2000, Steve became the host of “The Steve Harvey Morning Show”, and is still hosting it to this day.

He also began working on his acting career in the first half of the 2000s, and starred alongside Beyonce Knowles and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the 2003 musical comedy movie “The Fighting Temptations”. Steve then appeared in the 2003 teen comedy movie “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”, the 2004 dance movie “You Got Served”, and the same year in sports comedy film “Racing Stripes”.

He’s also an author, and published his first book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” in 2009.

It was in September 2010 that Steve began hosting the game-show “Family Feud”, and it quickly surpassed all the ratings set by the show’s former hosts. On 2 August 2012, Steve performed stand-up comedy for the last time, retired from the genre following his performance at Las Vegas’ hotel and casino MGM Grand.

He received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013.

Steve hosted the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 2015, and somehow managed to crown the wrong girl; he apologized a few minutes later, but was still invited to host the pageant again in 2016, ‘17, ’18, ‘19 and 2021.

Steve united all his businesses in one in 2017, under the name Steve Harvey Global. He’s also launched the philanthropic organization Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, which aims to help troubled youth.
