Who is Lochlyn Munro?

A producer, talented singer, and an actor with over 250 credits to his name, known particularly for his collaborations with the Wayans family, and his ability to do both drama and comedy movies, Richard Laughlain Lochlyn Munro was born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius on 12 February 1966, in Lac La Hache, British Columbia, Canada; he holds Canadian nationality, although he comes from a family of English, Scottish and Swiss descent.

Lochlyn is perhaps known best for his roles in films such as “Scary Movie”, “White Chicks”, and “Unforgiven”, among others, while to the television audience, best remembered for his role as Hal Cooper in the series “Riverdale”.

Early life and education

He was raised in Lac La Hache by his parents, alongside his siblings, however, since Lochlyn is quite secretive when it comes to his family, he hasn’t shared their names and occupations, but once spoke about his childhood, saying that his family was middle-class, but that they struggled financially from time to time.

He had an interest in hockey from an early age, and dreamed of becoming a professional player, however, his dream ended after a serious sports injury. When a teenager, he discovered his musical talent, and focused on playing and singing.

He attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 1984, he didn’t enroll at college but began attending acting classes, and studying improvisational comedy and drama with professionals such as the late Susan Elizabeth Strasberg, while he played in various clubs across Canada to provide for himself.

Lochlyn launched his acting career performing in theatre, and soon started auditioning to pursue his career as a television and movie actor.

He made his television debut in 1987, portraying Vince Ingersol in the series “21 Jump Street”, followed by his roles in “Danger Bay” in 1989 and “Wiseguy” in ‘90, and then guest-starred in several series, before he was cast to play Jason in “Northwood”, from 1991 until ’94.

In the following years, he portrayed McKinney in “Hawkeye”, and was seen as Agent Andrew Forbes in “Two” before his role as Lt. Andrew ‘X-Men’ Buxton in “JAG”, which came in 1999. The same year, he was cast to play Jack Sheridan and his twin brother Jeff in “Charmed”, which caused speculation that Lochlyn has a twin brother in the real life.

The early 2000s saw him in series “The Outer Limits”, “The Dead Zone”, “Monk”, “Las Vegas” and “Smallville”, among others, mostly guest-starring in an episode or two, which continued through the decade until 2012, when he was cast to play Mark Simms in “True Justice”, followed by his appearances in “The Transporter”, “Longmire”, “Bones”, and “Chicago Med”.

Lochlyn made his big-screen debut as a Bartender in the 1990 movie “Cadence”, followed by his roles in “Sylvan Lake Summer”, “Run”, and 1993’s “Unforgiven”, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, also Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman in this western drama, which won four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Gene Hackman), in.

In the following years, Lochlyn was seen starring in “Needful Things”, “Digger”, “Wagons East”, and “Downhill Willie”, while the late ‘90s saw him in “High Voltage”, “A Murder of Crows”, and “2 Extra Days”.

Some of his notable roles later in the decade were in movies such as “Last Night in Suburbia”, “Frat Pack”, “The Predator”, “Spiral”, “Recon”, “Dead Voices” and “Apex”, while his most recent role was his portrayal of Leland in “Roads of Ithriyah” in 2022.

Love life and marriage

Lochlyn hasn’t been the subject of any rumors and controversies concerning his love life, since he prefers to keep his personal matters away from the media’s attention, and hasn’t spoken about his previous relationships before he met his future wife, Sharon, who is only known as the wife of this famous actor.

The two married on 14 June 1997, and they are still together; they have two children, Magdalen and Hudson. Sharon shares Lochlyn’s wish to keep their private life away from the public eye, thus not much is known about their children, and he rarely posts photos of them on his social media accounts.

It is known that the family of four lives in Vancouver, Canada, but because of his job, Lochlyn often spends time in their house in Los Angeles, California USA.

Although he already has an impressive number of roles both in movies and series, Lochlyn is still very active, and in the following year, his fans will see his performance in new movies entitled “When Time Got Louder” and “Dying for Chocolate: A Curious Caterer Mystery”, while he has completed the filming of another three movies, “Risk for Honor”, “Dweller”, and “Margaux”, and there are two in post-production, entitled “Invasions” and “Residue”, release dates for which are still unrevealed.
