After he retired from professional basketball, Bird became the coach of the Indiana Pacers (1997 – 2000) and is credited for leading the team to the NBA Finals in 2000. 2003 saw him promoted to the position of the head of basketball operations for the team, and he served until 2012. He made a comeback in 2013, but quit again in 2017. Larry is the only NBA player who has been named the All-Star MVP, Rookie of the Year, Finals MVP, Executive of the Year, and Coach of the Year.
