After a party, John took his car home, but he never got home that night. He had a car accident at 100mph that left him deformed so much that the plastic surgeons needed pictures of him before the accident to reconstruct his face correctly. His left eye socket was destroyed; he broke both legs, ripped open his stomach, and broke nine teeth.
He was so drunk that he didn’t even recall what happened to him days after he awoke in the hospital bed and his friends and colleagues had to guide him through the events.
Luckily, John was on for a speedy recovery, and just six weeks after the horrific crash, he was ready to be on the set of “The Hughleys” again.
However, the crash left a mark on him and his life on the whole, and he was never the same again, thus his early retirement from show business.
