Who is Desmond Harrington?
An actor who rose to prominence after his role as Joey in the popular crime series “Dexter”, Desmond Harrington made his acting debut in Luc Besson’s biographic drama “The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc” in 1999, and since has starred in numerous movies and TV series, making his way in the entertainment industry.
He has over 40 acting credits to his name, and besides the mentioned roles, he’s perhaps known best for starring in horror movies such as “The Hole”, “Taken” and “Wrong Turn”, while to the television series lovers Desmond is well-known for his recurring role as Jack Bass in “Gossip Girl”.
Early life and education
Desmond Harrington was born under the zodiac sign of Libra on 16 October 1976, in Savannah, Georgia USA, thus he holds American nationality, and his ethnicity is White. He was raised in The Bronx, New York by his parents, about whom nothing is known since they prefer to keep their lives away from media attention. In the 2004 movie “Three Way”, Desmond was seen as Ralph Hagen, and his next role came two years later, when he starred in the thriller “Taphephobia”, followed by his role as Jay in “Stories USA” in 2007, and the same year, he played Mike Sokeletski in the TV movie “Fort Pit”.
Desmond was Sam Cutter in the 2008 movie “Exit Speed”, and then starred in “Timer”, “Life Is Hot in Cracktown”, and “Not Since You” in 2009. Three years later, Desmond had a role as Uniform in “The Dark Knight Rises”, starring Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway and Christian Bale.
In 2016, Desmond was cast to play Jack in “The Neon Demon”, which was his most recent movie role.

Desmond made his first television appearance portraying Jesse Keys in the 2002 TV mini-series “Taken”, produced by Steven Spielberg, which won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries, followed by his role as Detective Jimmy McCarron in “Dragnet” during 2003 and 2004. Then he was seen as Wylie Blake in “Sons & Daughters” in 2006 and ‘07.
Later in 2007, Desmond portrayed Troy in “Rescue”, before he was cast to play his most notable role as Detective Joseph ‘Joey’ Quinn in the mystery crime-drama “Dexter” (2008-2013), which brought Desmond and the rest of the crew four nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2009, ’10, ’11 and ’12.

There have been various rumors concerning both Desmond’s love life and his sexual orientation, however, it’s widely known that he’s been in a relationships with girls.
At the time he launched his acting career, Desmond was dating Gabbie Hanna, but soon after he became famous, the two broke up, and he started dating Amber Valletta, an American actress and model, from 1999 until 2000.
In 2002, Desmond dated Jennifer Meyer, a jewelry designer, who later married Tobey Maguire, a famous actor from Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy.
Desmond next dated an actress, Eve Mauro, known for her role in “Dexter”, – the two were a couple from 2010 until 2012, after which Desmond was in a relationship with Amanda Seyfried, an actress and model, and their love story lasted until 2013.
After that, it seems that Desmond decided to keep his love life away from the media’s attention since he hasn’t been seen publicly with anyone with whom he could be romantically linked.
In 2022, started some rumors about him being seen to be shopping for an engagement ring, and that he’s engaged to an anonymous girl, however, according to mediamass.net, it seems that this was a false rumor.

After his most recent movie role, Desmond’s fans started wondering what happened to him, and some of them assumed that he might have quit acting. Some rumors were saying that he might be using drugs, and others believed that he might be afflicted with a disease since many noticed his weight loss during the last season of “Dexter”. However, Desmond criticized the rumors, and stated that he has just changed his lifestyle, among other things, saying: ‘I didn’t have any plastic surgery, I’m not sick – it’s called running and eating better! You understand?’
He has an Instagram account, which has been followed by over 10,000 people, however, he hasn’t uploaded any posts, so his fans are struggling to keep track of his life and work. Desmond also has a Twitter account, established in April 2020, however, he’s deleted all of his tweets.
