Who is Candice Crawford?

A journalist and model, who was in the Top 10 Finalists for Miss USA 2008, Candice Crawford, is also known as the wife of Tony Romo, an analyst and former American Football quarterback, who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

Besides being known as a celebrity wife, Candice has built a name for herself thanks to her beauty pageant successes, and her work as a reporter for the Dallas Cowboy’s weekly sports show on Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS).

Early life and education

Candice Loren Crawford was born under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius on 16 December 1986, in Lubbock, Texas USA, thus she holds American nationality, and comes from a family of Caucasian descent.

She was raised in Dallas, Texas, by her parents – her mother Dana was a teacher, while her father Chris worked as a dermatologist. Candice has an older brother, Chace Crawford, an actor, who is perhaps known best for his role as Nate Archibald in the popular series “Gossip Girl”.

Candice had an interest in sports from an early age, playing basketball, and captaining her high school team, while she also enjoyed watching football games with her father and brother.

Speaking of her educational background, she attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2004, enrolled at the University of Missouri in Columbia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2008.

Candice competed in the beauty pageants from when she was a teenager, and in 2003, she was the third runner-up for Miss Texas Teen USA, and then in 2004 won the Miss Dallas Teen USA title, while in the following year, Candice was again the third runner-up for Miss Texas Teen USA.

She won the Miss Missouri USA 2008 title, also received special achievement recognition in the swimsuit category, and was in the Top 10 Finalists for Miss USA in that year.

In August 2009, Candice was ranked No.1 in the Dallas Observer’s list of The Top 10 Hottest TV Women in Dallas, while in the following year, DFW.com named her one of the 11 ‘hottest people in North Texas’, and D Magazine named Candice one of ‘The 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas 2010’.

Career as a journalist

During her first college year, Candice began reporting for the local National Broadcasting Company (NBC) TV station KOMU, and worked for “Friday Night Lights”, a high school football sports program.

In the following years, Candice served as a reporter for “The Blitz”, the Dallas Cowboy’s weekly sports show on CBS, and was a host of the weekly sports radio show “The Closers” on KFRU/1400 AM.

After she graduated, Candice worked for KDAF TV, an affiliate of The CW based in Dallas, covering high school games and cheerleader’s festivals, and also hosting TV programs such as “The RC Project” and “Up All Night”.

Marriage to Tony Romo

Candice met her future husband Tony Romo while she was working as an anchor for “The Blitz” in 2009; Tony asked her for a date, and the two started dating in the fall of 2009.

In the following year at Candice’s 24th birthday party, Tony proposed to her, she said ‘yes’, and their engagement was announced publicly the same day on KDAF TV, where Candice worked at that time.

Five months later, on 28 May 2011, the two exchanged their wedding vows in a ceremony held at Arlington Hall on Turtle Creek Boulevard in Dallas, in the presence of their closest family members and friends, who were asked not to take photos of the wedding.

On 9 April 2012, Candice gave birth to their first son, Hawkins Crawford Romo, their second son, Rivers Crawford Romo was born on 18 March 2014, and the youngest, Jones McCoy Romo was born on 23 August 2017.

As of August 2022, Candice and Tony live a seemingly happy life with their sons, raising them together in their residence in Dallas.

Candice’s age is 33, she has long, blonde hair which is her trademark, and piercing blue eyes; she weighs around 125lbs (57kgs) and is 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall, with vital statistics of 33-24-34.

According to sources, as of August 2022, her net worth has been estimated at $10 million, while her husband has a net worth estimated at over $70 million.

Who is Tony Romo?

Antonio Ramiro ‘Tony’ Romo was born under the zodiac sign of Taurus, on 21 April 1980, in San Diego, California USA, he holds American nationality, although he comes from a family of Polish, German and Mexican descents.

Tony is a ‘Navy brat’, and was born in San Diego where his father was stationed at the US Naval Base, however, the family later moved to Burlington, Wisconsin, where Tony spent most of his childhood.

He attended a local high school, where he began playing football, then upon matriculating in 1998, he enrolled at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where he played for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA) Division I-AA Eastern Illinois Panthers football team.

Tony began his professional career in 2003; although he went undrafted by any NFL team, he was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Dallas Cowboys, and in the 2007 season, he agreed to a six-year, $67.5 million contract with the Cowboys.

On 4 April 2017, Tony announced his retirement from the NFL, having played 162 games for the Cowboys, and currently serves as an analyst for CBS.

Speaking of his love life, before tying the knot with his now-wife, Tony was in a relationship with Carrie Underwood, an American country singer, and she isn’t the only celebrity Tony dated.

He was romantically linked to Sophia Bush and Britney Spears, although these relationships haven’t been confirmed, but it’s widely known that from 2007 until 2009, Tony was in a relationship with Jessica Simpson, a famous singer, actress and model from Texas – according to TMZ Sports, Tony broke up from her because he suspected that she cheated on him with John Mayer, her fellow singer.  In her memoir, “Open Book”, Jessica wrote: ‘Tony didn’t believe that (nothing happened) for a second. And within that second, he broke up with me right there. Two years, gone with an email.’

However, it seems that they both continued with their lives, Tony marrying Candice, and Jessica found her luck with Eric Johnson, also a former NFL player.
