He studied at Western High School, and was 15 when he won the US Junior Amateur Championships, becoming the youngest person to achieve that feat; he won it again in 1992 and 1993, and to this day remains the only person to win it thrice. Tiger became the youngest person to win the US Amateur in 1994, and in the same year, the American team of which Tiger was a member, won the Eisenhower Trophy – World’s Amateur Golf Team Championship.
He matriculated in 1994, and then enrolled at Stanford University on a golf scholarship; in September of the same year, Tiger won the 40th Annual William H. Tucker Invitational. He competed in the Masters Tournament for the first time in 1995, and became the youngest winner on 13 April 1997, having quit college a year earlier, wanting to focus on golf.
