Who is Lisa Hartman Black?

Lisa was born in Houston, Texas USA, on 1 June 1956 – her zodiac sign’s Gemini, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress, film producer and singer, with close to 50 acting credits to her name, while she’s probably still known best for her portrayal of the title character Tabitha Stephens in the fantasy comedy series “Tabitha”, created by Jerry Mayer, and which also starred Robert Urich and Mel Stewart. It’s the spin-off from the hit series “Bewitched”, and follows Darrin and Samantha’s daughter Tabitha now that she’s grown up; the series aired from 1976 to 1978.

Early life and education

Lisa was raised in Houston alongside her sister Terri Hartman, by their parents Howard and Jonni Hartman; not a lot is known about Lisa’s family, as she respects their privacy, but it’s known that her father was a singer, and her mother a publicist.

She grew up being interested in acting and modelling, and appeared in a couple of commercials during her teenage years. Lisa studied at Houston’s High School for the Performing Arts, and was highly sporting during her four years there, as she enjoyed playing volleyball and tennis with her peers.

Upon matriculating in 1974, Lisa chose not to pursue a college degree, but to rather focus on acting.

Roles in TV series

Lisa made her debut TV series appearance in the 1975 episode “Candice Bergen/Esther Phillips” of the comedy “Saturday Night Live”, and the following years saw her appear in an episode or two of various series, such as the action crime drama “Police Woman”, the mystery crime drama “Vega$”, and the romantic comedy drama “The Love Boat”.

What best marked the ‘80s for her was probably her portrayal of Cathy Geary in the romantic drama “Knots Landing”, created by David Jacobs, and which starred Michele Lee, Ted Shackelford and Joan Van Ark. It follows the people living in Knots Landing, Los Angeles, California, and the series aired from 1979 to 1993 (Lisa was a member of the cast from 1982 to 1986) and won 42 awards, including a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore), while it was nominated for 45 other awards.

Lisa appeared in only a single TV series in the ‘90s, when she played Jade O’Keefe in the 1992 drama “2000 Malibu Road”, and she’s since appeared in just two others: she voiced a supporting character in the 2000 episode “Peggy’s Fan Fair” of the animated comedy drama “King of the Hill”, and appeared in two episodes of the 2022 talk-show “Talking in Circles with Clint Black”.

Roles in movies

Lisa made her debut film appearance in the 1977 mystery sports drama “Murder at the World Series”, while a couple of her following roles were in the 1978 comedy “Just Tell Me You Love Me”, the 1980 romantic comedy “Valentine Magic on Love Island”, and the 1980 romantic comedy drama “Where the Ladies Go”.

The year 1984 saw Lisa play the lead character Jennie Cooper in the comedy “Where the Boys Are”, directed by Hy Averback, and which also starred Lorna Luft and Wendy Schaal. It follows four girls who met at college, and have now embarked on a trip together; the movie won one of the five awards for which it was nominated. A couple of Lisa’s other notable performances in the ‘80s were in the drama “Roses Are for the Rich”, theromantic family comedy “Student Exchange” both in 1987, and the 1989 thriller “Full Exposure: The Sex Tapes Scandal”.

She appeared in many movies in the ‘90s, while the most popular amongst these was probably the 1998 drama “Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack”, directed by David Burton Morris, and in which she starred alongside Clint Black and Bill Bolender. This true story follows a woman who helped free her rodeo star husband after he had been falsely accused of murder.

Lisa’s since appeared in only two movies: the 2005 romantic drama “Back to You and Me”, and the 2012 family drama “Flicka: Country Pride”, while she’s currently shooting for the upcoming film “Reason for the Season”, set for release in 2023.

Lisa produced the 1996 movie “Have You Seen My Son”, and the 1998 movie “Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack”.

Even though Lisa prefers to keep the details of her love life away from media, she’s still allowed her fans to have a glimpse into it. She exchanged vows with Clint Black on 20 October 1991, in a large ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members; Clint’s a famous American country music singer-songwriter and actor, who’s released 15 albums and appeared in more than 10 movies and TV series – his net worth’s been estimated at over $25 million.

On 8 May 2001, Lisa gave birth to their daughter Lily Pearl Black, who’s also ventured into acting; the family of three’s today living in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles.

Lisa hasn’t mentioned any other men whom she’s perhaps been with, and as of July 2022, she’s married to Clint Black, and they have a daughter together.

Hobbies and interesting facts

Lisa’s interested in music, and was 16 years old when she became the lead singer of the rock ‘n’ roll band Lisa Hartman and Four Grand; they mostly performed at Holiday Inns.

She seems to be enjoying running her Instagram account, which is today followed by more than 50,000 people, while she’s uploaded nearly 200 pictures onto the network, the majority of which feature her during her everyday life.

Lisa’s passionate about travelling, and her career’s taken her to various countries all around the world, with her dream travel destination being Athens, Greece.

She’s a philanthropist and has donated money to various organizations working with underprivileged children and war veterans.

Lisa has her own favorite actor and actress, the late Robin Williams, and Meryl Streep, while a couple of her favorite movies include “Patch Adams”, “Good Morning, Vietnam” and “The Bridges of Madison County”.
