Who is Eliza Taylor?

Eliza Jane Taylor-Cotter was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on 24 October 1989 – her zodiac sign is Scorpio, and she holds Australian nationality. She’s an actress, film writer and producer, with more than 20 acting credits to her name, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of both Clarke Griffin and Josephine Lightbourne in the critically acclaimed mystery science fiction movie “The 100”. It was created by Jason Rothenberg, starred Eliza and her Australian husband Bob Morley, and follows 100 juvenile delinquents who’ve been sent from a spaceship to Earth, 97 years after a nuclear war had nearly destroyed the planet; the series aired from 2014 to 2020, and won 11 of the 56 awards for which it was nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination.

Early life and education

Eliza was raised in Melbourne alongside her brother and two sisters, by their step-father who was a comedian, and her mother who’s a graphic designer and author; not a lot else is known about Eliza’s family as she respects their privacy, while it’s known that her biological father was the owner of several cafés in Melbourne.

Eliza grew up wanting to become a marine biologist, and was amongst the best of her class while attending a local high school, hoping that she’d be offered a college scholarship upon matriculating in 2007. However, she fell in love with acting somewhere along the way, and chose not to pursue a college degree, but to focus on working on her way up in the film industry.

Roles in TV series

Eliza made her debut TV series appearance in 2003, when cast to play Sarah Redding one of the lead characters in the action adventure drama “Pirate Islands”, created by Jonathan M. Shiff, and which also starred Brooke Harman and Nicholas Donaldson. It tells the story of three Australian children who’ve been teleported into a world of swashbuckling heroes and pirates, and the movie was nominated for a Logie Award for Most Outstanding Children’s Program.

The same year saw Eliza play Rosie Cartwright in the family comedy drama “Sleepover Club”, and in 2004, she portrayed Tatum O’Hara in the episode “Cast the First Stone” of the action crime drama “Blue Heelers”, then in 2006, she made a guest appearance as Heidi Lee in an episode of the family drama “Blue Water High”.

Between 2003 and 2008, Eliza played Janae Timmins and Jacinta Matin in the long-running popular romantic sit-com “Neighbours”, created by Reg Watson, and which today stars Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher and Tom Oliver. It follows the people living in Erinsborough’s (Australia) Ramsay Street, the series has been airing since 1985 and has won 26 of the 101 awards for which it’s been nominated.

The following years saw Eliza appear in an episode or two of various series, such as the mystery crime drama “Rush”, the family comedy drama “Packed to the Rafters” and the drama “All Saints”; her most recent role has been in “The 100”.

Roles in movies

Eliza made her debut film appearance in the 2010 short comedy drama “The Laundromat”, and she gained recognition in 2012, when cast to play Amy Challis in the horror thriller “6 Plots”. It was directed by Leigh Sheehan, starred Andrew Clarke, Alice Darling and Ryan Corr, and follows Brie who’s received a strange message on her phone, and now has to play a game similar to hide-and-seek if she wants to save her friends from death. The same year saw Eliza play Maria in the short drama “Planes”.

She portrayed Nurse Panicale in the 2013 horror “Patrick: Evil Awakens!”, written and directed by Mark Hartley, and which starred Sharni Vinson, Rachel Griffiths and Charles Dance. It follows a young nurse who’s discovered that there’s something very evil about one of her comatose patients; the movie was nominated for two awards.

A couple of Eliza’s following roles were in the 2013 short drama “Natural”, the 2014 action thriller “The November Man”, and the 2017 crime thriller drama “Thumper”.

Her most recent movie role has been her portrayal of the lead character Ellen Langford in the 2017 romantic comedy drama “Christmas Inheritance”, directed by Ernie Barbarash, and which also starred Jake Lacy and Andie MacDowell. It follows a girl who’s been challenged by her CEO father to deliver a letter to his former business partner, while she’ll take over his position as the CEO if she’s to succeed.

Eliza’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “It Only Takes a Night” and “I’ll Be Watching”.

Other credits

She sang the song “All the Pretty Horses (Hush-a-bye)” in the 2014 episode “Earth Kills” of the series “The 100”.

Eliza has only a single writing credit – the 2019 short documentary movie “Koh Tao Kids”. She also produced the movie, while she’s currently producing the upcoming films “It Only Takes a Night” and “I’ll Be Watching”.

She’s made a guest appearance in a number of talk-shows, such as “Australia’s Brainiest Kid”, “Sex, Lies & Soaps”, and “After Dark with Julian Clark”.

Eliza’s been nominated for six Teen Choice Awards, all for her performance in “The 100”.

Love life and relationships

Eliza prefers to keep the details of her love life away from the media’s attention, but has still allowed her fans to have a glimpse into it.

She met famous Australian actor Bob Morley while they were shooting together for the series “The 100”, and Eliza revealed on 7 June 2019 that they’d exchanged vows, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members.

She suffered a miscarriage in 2019, and was unable to direct several episodes of the final season of “The 100”, which she’d been hired to do.

Eliza revealed that she was pregnant in February 2022, and gave birth to her and Bob’s son Henry on 19 March.

Neither of the two has spoken of any other people whom they’ve perhaps been with, and as of June 2022, Eliza’s married to Bob Morley, and they have a son together.

Hobbies and other interests

One of Eliza’s hobbies includes running her Instagram account – she’s today followed by more than three million people and has uploaded close to 1,000 pictures and videos onto the network, most of which have been taken during her everyday life.

She’s into travelling, and has been to various European and Asian countries, as well as to several US states, for both work and pleasure; Eliza’s dream travel destination is Miami, Florida.

She enjoys spending her spare time in nature, especially close to bodies of water, which is perhaps why summer is her favorite season.

Eliza has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Matt Damon, Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, while a couple of her favorite movies include “Saving Private Ryan”, “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective – When Nature Calls” and “Titanic”.

Eliza’s age is 32. She has long brown hair and blue eyes, her height is 5ft 5ins (1.65m) and she weighs around 120lbs (55kgs).

As of June 2022, her net worth reputedly stands at over $3 million.
