Who is Taniya Nayak?
Taniya was born in Nagpur, India, on 22 February 1973 – her zodiac sign is Pisces, and she holds both Indian and American nationality. She’s an interior designer and TV personality, while she’s probably known best for her appearances in Food Network and HGTV shows, in which she offered her services as a designer.
Early life and education
Taniya spent only around a year in Nagpur, as she and her family then moved back to Boston, Massachusetts USA; her father B. D. was a renowned architect from Boston, while her mother Leela Nayak was a housewife. Because Taniya hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, most of her fans believe her to be an only child.
She was interested in many activities while growing up, while she was perhaps mostly into dancing and playing sports. Taniya was urged by her father to focus on her education, and then to pursue whatever career she wanted upon graduation.
She studied at Weymouth High, and played a couple of sports during her four years there, including tennis and volleyball; upon matriculating in 1991, Taniya enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing in 1995. She continued her education at Boston Architectural College, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in interior design in 1997.
Taniya’s career
A couple of years after she received her Master’s degree, Taniya was invited to star in the ABC Family’s reality show “Knock First”, alongside three other interior designers, in which they showed off their skills.
Upon leaving the cast, Taniya joined the HGTV network, as she was invited to star in their reality show “Designed to Sell”; it follows Taniya as she’s helping people prepare their houses for sale, so that they would be worth more. As the show was a success, Taniya next began hosting her own show “Destination Design”.
She could then have been seen hosting the spin-off of HGTV’s show “House Hunters”, entitled “House Hunters on Vacation”, as well as HGTV’s “Billion Dollar Block” and Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible”.
Taniya’s today running her own company Taniya Nayak Design LLC, which she launched back in 2005, while she’s also working for Ellen DeGeneres’ QVC line ED on Air as its brand ambassador.
Her work could’ve been seen featured in various magazines, including “The Boston Globe”, “The Washington Post” and “Architectural Digest India”, while she’s also made a guest appearance in a number of talk-shows, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “The View”.

Taniya launched her self-titled YouTube channel on 14 December 2006, but it’s today subscribed to by only about 400 people, while it numbers over 30,000 views of all her videos combined, most in one way or another related to interior design, and we’ll mention three of the most popular amongst these, which’ve helped Taniya become somewhat popular on the internet.
Her #1 video “Taniya Nayak Home Makeover” has been watched close to 20,000 times since 22 January 2010, and features her showing off her house.
Her second most popular video “Taniya Nayak Reel” has been viewed over 5,000 times since 20 July 2010, and features some of her work, as well as her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Taniya’s third most watched video – “Taniya Nayak on Oprah” has attracted nearly 2,000 views since 27 January 2010, and shows her on the talk-show “Oprah”.
Presence on social media networks
Taniya’s quite active on various social media networks, and is today followed by more than 40,000 people on Instagram, while she’s uploaded nearly 3,000 pictures, the majority of which feature her during her everyday life.

She launched her Twitter account in April 2009, and there are over 350,000 people following it today, while Taniya’s tweeted close to 10,000 times, sharing her thoughts on various matters with her fans.
Taniya has a Facebook page as well, followed by over 110,000 fans, while she tends to update it at least once a week.
She’s recently launched her TikTok account, which is why it’s only followed by close to 150 people, while Taniya’s gathered nearly 300 likes of all her 13 videos combined.
Love life and husband
Taniya prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, but it’s still widely known that she’s today a married woman. She exchanged vows with American businessman Brian O’Donnell in a private ceremony, attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; neither has shared the exact date or the location of their wedding, but it’s believed that they married sometime in the 2000s.
Brian’s the co-owner of Boston restaurants Vanilla and Zita.
The two don’t have children together, and while this is believed to be because they both want to focus on their careers, some of Taniya’s fans have pointed out that either she or Brian could be infertile; this hasn’t been confirmed nor addressed by Taniya.
Taniya hasn’t mentioned any other men whom she’s perhaps been with, so as of July 2022, she’s married to Brian O’Donnell, and they have two children together.
Hobbies and other interests
Taniya likes to travel, and her career has taken her to more than 20 US states, while she’s also vacationed in a couple of Asian and European countries; her dream travel destination is Paris, France.
She likes to taste various cuisines when travelling, and her favorite is Italian food, mostly because she loves pasta.
Taniya’s a dog-lover, and her pet dog can be seen featured in a couple of her Instagram pictures.
Her favorite season is summer, mostly because she enjoys swimming in the ocean, and sun tanning at the beach.
Taniya likes to watch movies late at night – her favorite actor and actress are Will Smith and Kate Winslet, while some of her favorite films include “Bad Boys”, “Seven Pounds” and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
