American rapper and actor Nasir Fard – aka Gillie Da Kid – was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, on 31 July 1984, making his zodiac sign Leo. He’s a rapper and actor, who’s probably still known best for having been a founding member of the rap group Major Figgas, which was active from 1999 to 2001, and was also founded by Abliva; they eventually welcomed Bump J, Dutch, Bianca and Spade-O into the group, and released several mixtapes prior to disbanding.
Education and early life
Gillie was raised in Philadelphia by his parents, but not a lot is known about them because Gillie prefers to keep them away from media; he hasn’t mentioned any siblings whom he might have, but it’s believed that he was raised alongside two sisters.
He studied at Ben Franklin High School, and was interested in both basketball and running track during his four years there, while he also had good grades, which made it possible for him to pursue a college degree upon matriculating in 2002.
Gillie studied at Cabrini College, Pennsylvania, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2006.
Career as a rapper
Gillie launched his career when he co-founded Major Figgas, and even though they signed a contract with Suave House Records and seemed to have a promising future, they still disbanded not long afterwards.
Gillie then chose to pursue a solo career, and signed a contract with Cash Money Records after having met its CEO, Lil Wayne; he still failed to release any music, and was thus dropped by the label.
He then signed with Babygrande Records, and his debut mixtape “The Best of the GDK” was released in March 2007. In 2008, Gillie released his song “Get Down on the Ground”, which only became popular after famous American rapper Soulja Boy covered it in 2013.
Also in 2008, Gillie released his debut album, “King of Philly”, and his second album “I Am Philly” followed in 2009. He then signed a $2 million contract with Relumae Records, and released his album “Welcome to Gilladelphia” in 2015; his second album “Million Dollars Worth of Game” followed in 2017, but Gillie hasn’t released any new music since then.

Gillie’s also an actor with eight credits to his name – his debut film appearance was in the 2010 action drama “Caged Animal”, directed by Ryan Combs, and in which Gillie starred alongside Ving Rhames and Nipsey Hussle. It follows Cain who’s been in jail for quite some time, and has recently been invited to speak to children from his neighborhood, including his son, to try and keep them away from illegal activities.
Also in 2010, Gillie appeared in the crime drama “Ex$pendable”, and could then have been seen playing supporting characters in the 2011 drama “Streets”, the 2013 action crime “Force of Execution”, and in his own 2014 music video “Gillie Da Kid ft. Pusha T: Tryna Get Me One”.

Roles in TV series
Gillie’s appeared in only a single TV series. He played North Phil in the episodes “Closed Casket”, “No One Can Serve Two Masters” and “Run CMD” of the 2020 action crime drama “Chase Street”, created by Denny Brown, and which starred Clifton Powell, Tyrell Baker and Porta Richard Nunez. The series aired three episodes in 2017, and four others in 2020 – it follows the people living in Camden, New Jersey who are either chasing respect, money or drugs; it was cancelled after having aired these seven episodes.
Gillie worked as a production co-ordinator on the 2017 action thriller movie “Blood Brotha”, which failed to attract any attention.
He was featured in the documentary movies’ “Philly Uncut”, “Philly Uncut II” and “Philly Uncut III”, all released in 2021.
