Elodie is a French actress, probably best known to the world as Elektra Natchios in the TV series “Daredevil” (2016), and as Thony in the TV series “The Cleaning Lady” (2022), in addition to several other popular roles that she’s secured so far in her career.

Elodie Yung was born on 22 February 1981, in Paris, France, to a Cambodian father and a French mother. She grew up in the outskirts of Paris, in Le Bourget, and said that she had a tough childhood. Other children would tease and bully her, so at just nine years of age, she enrolled in karate classes, and after years of practice, she became a black belt in her late teens.

Following high school matriculation, Elodie enrolled at the University of Paris, from which she obtained a law degree, with the ultimate intention of becoming a judge. However, at 29 years old, Elodie had a change of heart, and enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to study acting.

Career Beginnings

Elodie launched her on-screen career in 2002, with the role of Jade Perrin in the French drama series “La Vie Devant Nous”. She appeared in 30 out of 52 episodes of the critically acclaimed series, which helped her kick-start her career.

In 2004, Elodie made her feature film debut as Tsu in the action adventure-drama film “Les Fils Du Vent”, which starred Williams Belle, Chau Belle Dinh and Malik Diouf, and continued to work in the French language.

In 2005, Elodie played Fanny in an episode of the TV series “Mademoiselle Joubert”, reprising the character three more times in 2006 and 2007, before embarking on the role of Laura Maurier in the TV series “Les Bleus: Premiers Pas Dans La Police”. Elodie was gradually becoming more popular, and in 2010, she was cast in her first starring role, as Isako in the action comedy film “Operation Casablanca”, co-starring Tarek Bukhari and Gilles Tschudi. Next, she was Miriam Wu, the love interest of Lisbeth Salander in the Academy Award-winning mystery crime-drama film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, starring Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Stellan Skarsgard, among others.
