Melanie made her small screen debut in 2009, with the role of Fiona Castley in the film “The Selection,” which is based on the teen novel written by Kiera Cass. The movie follows the story of a young career woman who is selected in a lottery to participate in a competition with other women for a chance to marry a prince; she is one of these women. Three years later, she portrayed Asmara in an episode of the American/British spy drama show “Strike Back” before she was cast in an episode of the horror drama TV series “Dracula.” In the same year, she made her film debut in “What Would Dylan Do?”, and 2014 saw her appearing in two police procedural dramas, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” and “Stalker.”

Liburd landed her first big screen role as Kira Geoffries in the 2015 Dianne Houston-directed film “Runaway Island”, appearing together with Thomas Q. Jones, Aisha Hinds and Lorraine Toussaint.
