She’s an actress, costume designer and Pilates instructor, but who’s perhaps known best for being the daughter of Vanessa Williams, a famous American actress, singer and fashion designer.
Early life and education
Melanie was raised in Los Angeles alongside her younger sister Jillian Kristin Hervey and younger brother Devin, by their mother and their father Ramon Hervey II, who was a public relations specialist; Melanie also has a half-sister Sasha Gabriella Fox from her mother’s second marriage. Her sister Jillian is today a famous dancer and singer, and is one half of the R&B duo Lion Babe.
Melanie grew up being interested mostly in dancing, and her mother found her a private instructor when she was nine years old.
She was 13 when she was ‘thrown’ into the film industry, as her mother helped her win a role in the 2000 historical romantic movie “The Courage to Love”, directed by Kari Skogland, and which starred her mother, Gil Bellows and Karen Williams, and follows Henriette who’s living in the 19th century, and has to choose between her devotion to church and love.
Melanie matriculated from a local high school in 2006, and then enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology, from which she graduated with an Associate’s degree in fashion merchandising in 2008.
Melanie has had a multi-faceted career – she worked as an intern at Henri Bendel between June and August 2005, and was in the summer of 2007 a marketing intern at the magazine “Allure”.
Her career took off in 2009, when she joined The Corcoran Group as a licensed real estate salesperson, and executive assistant to senior vice president; she was mostly in charge of opening houses and co-ordinating events and meetings. Melanie held the job for six years, while between May 2014 and July 2015, she simultaneously worked at James Perse Ent., Inc. as a key holder, in charge of opening and closing the store, managing inventory and handling the register.
Between 2007 and 2016, Melanie worked at Mellian Group as a freelance fashion stylist and creative consultant. She had numerous duties, including working as a fashion stylist with numerous famous brands and magazines, such as “Vogue” and “Vogue Germany”, while she also worked with many TV shows, including “Oprah”. Some of her clients were Chevrolet, Ray-Ban Sunglasses and Ice Breakers.
In 2015 and 2016, Melanie worked as the clientele manager at Reformation, mostly in charge of creating and maintaining the Clientele Development Program. In 2016 and 2017, she worked at Outdoor Voices as the retail sales manager, managing the staff and training new employees.
Since June 2017, she has been working at Equinox as a senior Pilates instructor, as well as between March and October 2019 working at New York Pilates as the studio director, and between January 2019 and May 2021, Melanie was a certified Pilates and Barre instructor at Namaste Wellness.
Work in the film industry
In 2007, Melanie appeared in the documentary series “E! True Hollywood Story”, and in 2013, she worked as a costume intern on the popular comedy movie “Dealin’ with Idiots”. It was written and directed by Jeff Garlin, who also starred in it alongside Steve Agee and Gina Gershon; the movie follows a comedian who’s trying to make a comedy movie about his son’s baseball team.

Melanie hasn’t spoken of any men (or women) whom she’s perhaps been with, as she prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, however, there are still various rumors circulating the internet, concerning her current relationship status as well as her sexual orientation.

Vanessa Lynn Williams was born in New York City, USA on 18 March 1963 – her zodiac sign is Pisces, and she holds American nationality. She’s perhaps still known best for having been the first African-American woman to become Miss America, in 1983; a year later, the magazine “Penthouse” revealed that it would be publishing her nude photographs, and Vanessa was thus forced by Miss America Organization to drop her title, which was then given to the second-placed Miss New Jersey Suzette Charles.
Vanessa was raised in The Bronx, New York City alongside her younger brother Chris, who’s today a famous actor, by their mother Helen Tinch and their father Milton Augustine Williams Jr., who’d met at Fredonia State Teachers College, and later both taught music at elementary schools.
Growing up, Vanessa learned to play the French horn, violin and piano, and practiced jazz and classical dance. Upon matriculating from a local high school in 1981, she enrolled at Syracuse’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, Department of Drama, but quit two years later; the college still presented her with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May 2008.
