Early life, family, and education

Marika Domińczyk was born in 1980, and celebrates her birthday on 7 July, which makes Cancer her zodiac sign. Marika was born in Kielce, Swietokrzyskie, Poland, but was raised in Brooklyn, New York USA. Her father, Miroslaw Domińczyk, was one of the leaders of the anti-establishment Polish Solidarity movement, so her family immigrated to the US when Marika was a toddler.

Marika has two sisters, Dagmara and Veronika, who are also both actresses. Veronika is perhaps known best for her role in the movie “Northeast”, while besides being known for her roles, Dagmara is also known as the wife of actor Patrick Wilson.

Marika made her acting debut as a Hostess in an episode of the series “The $treet” in 2000, followed by her role as Tess Michner in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in 2001.

In the following year, Marika was seen as Christina in “Witchblade”, and two years later, she had the recurring role as Anna, the Nanny, in “The Help”, followed in the same year by her role as Erika in the romantic drama series “North Shore”.

Next, in 2006, Marika was seen in “Bones”, before she was cast to play her first lead role as Lola in “Heist”, opposite Steve Harris and Dougray Scott. The series followed the story of a team of crooks who tries to rob three Beverly Hills jewelers; the series had nine award nominations and won five.

From 2006 until 2011, Marika portrayed Tyler Altamirano in “Brothers & Sisters”, and then guest starred in “Rizzoli & Isles” (2011), “Vegas” (2013), and “Criminal Minds” (2013).

Marika’s breakthrough role came in 2016, as Doctor Eliza Minnick in “Grey’s Anatomy”, starring Ellen Pompeo, James Pickens Junior, and Chandra Wilson. This romantic drama series is centered on the professional and personal lives of surgical interns, doctors and their supervisors; it had over 240 award nominations and won 84, including four Primetime Emmys.

In 2019, Marika was cast to play Tina Marek in “Whiskey Cavalier”, and her most recent television appearance was her portrayal of Talia Mallay in the episode “The Devil Wore Anna” of the Netflix mini-series “Inventing Anna”, in 2022.

Roles in movies

Marika made her big-screen debut as Cathy in the 2001 movie “3 A.M.”, starring Danny Glover, Sergej Trifunovic, and Michelle Rodriguez. She followed with her role as Tatiana in “Porn ’n Chicken” in 2002.

Two years later, she had a supporting role in “Invitation to a Suicide”, and then she was seen as Bernadette in the 2005 comedy “The 40-Year-Old-Virgin”, starring Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Catherine Keener. Marika’s next role came in the 2007 movie “Bagboy”, followed by her role in “Who Do You Love”, a biographic drama about Leonard Chess whose label helped the popularization of Blues music during the ’50s.

In the following years, Marika was seen in “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” (2009) and “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” (2014), which was her most recent movie role.

Love life and relationships

Marika hasn’t been the subject of any affairs and gossip concerning her love life; it’s widely known that she’s a married woman. She met her future husband thanks to her sister who worked with him on a play. He’s actor and director Scott Foley, who’s known for his roles in series such as “Scrubs”, “Scandal”, and “The Unit”, among many others.
