Who is Kyla Pratt?
Kyla Alissa Pratt was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 16 September 1986 – her zodiac sign is Virgo, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress with close to 100 credits to her name, probably still known best for her portrayal of the lead character, Breanna Barnes in the comedy series “One on One”, created by Eunetta T. Boone, and which also starred Robert Ri’chard and Flex Alexander. It follows a sportscaster whose teenage daughter’s just moved in with him; the series aired from 2001 to 2006 and won one of the nine awards for which it was nominated.
Early life and education
Kyla was raised in Los Angeles alongside her four younger siblings, by their father Johnny McCullar who was a basketball player, and their mother Kecia Pratt who was an actress.
Kyla became interested in acting at a very early age, and was five years old when her parents began taking her to auditions. She was six when she made her debut TV series appearance, playing Brittany in the 1993 episode “Married… with Children” of the comedy “Where I Live”. It was in the following year that she made her film debut, voicing Dancer in the short animated family drama “Nursery Raps Starring Mama Goose”.
Kyla then continued acting throughout her entire education; she hasn’t spoken about which high school she attended, and it’s thus believed that she was homeschooled, and that she passed her GED tests in 2004. She hasn’t attended college.

Kyla played Becca in the 1995 family comedy drama “The Baby-Sitters Club”, directed by Melanie Mayron, and which starred Schuyler Fisk, Bre Blair and Rachael Leigh Cook. It follows seven teenagers as they’re organizing a daycare camp for kids, and the film won two of the three awards for which it was nominated.
A couple of Kyla’s notable performances in the remainder of the ‘90s were in the 1996 action crime thriller “Riot”, thedrama “A Walton Easter” and the crime thriller drama “Mad City” both in 1997. Kyla initially appeared in an episode or two of various popular series, such as the adventure comedy drama “Family Matters”, the action crime adventure “Walker, Texas Ranger” and the mystery science fiction drama “The Pretender”.
Her first notable performance in a TV series was her voicing of the lead character Penny Proud in the animated comedy “The Proud Family”, created by Bruce W. Smith and Doreen Spicer, and which also starred Tommy Davidson and Jo Marie Payton. It follows teenage girl Penny Proud and her adventures, the series aired from 2001 to 2005, and won six of the 29 awards for which it was nominated.
From 2012 to 2014, Kyla starred as Crystal Whitmore in the comedy “Let’s Stay Together”, created by Jacque Edmonds, and which also starred Bert Belasco and Joyful Drake. It follows the lives of several couples, and the series won one of the two awards for which it was nominated.
Since 2021, Kyla’s been playing the supporting character Randi in the comedy “Call Me Kat”, created by Darlene Hunt, and which stars Mayim Bialik, Swoosie Kurtz and Leslie Jordan. It follows a 39-year-old woman who’s decided to open a cat-themed café, and the series has won one of the five awards for which it’s been nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination.

She began dating American rapper, songwriter and tattoo artist Danny Kilpatrick in 2005, and gave birth to their daughter Lyric Kilpatrick on 17 November 2010, and their second daughter Liyah Kilpatrick on 5 August 2013; she and Danny are keeping their two girls away from the media’s attention, although they can still be seen featured in many of Kyla’s Instagram pictures. After 17 years, Kyla and Danny have recently become engaged.
Kyla hasn’t mentioned any other men whom she’s perhaps been with, and as of July 2022, she’s engaged to Danny Kilpatrick, and they have two daughters together.
