Jalyn Emil Hall was born on 23 December 2006, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, the son of Og Hall, a mailman, and Imy Hall, a supermarket worker. He is one of four children, having two sisters Jada and Cassie, and a brother Jordan Jullian.
Although nobody from his family was involved in acting, he became interested in showbiz before he even entered elementary school. He joined the school’s drama club, and began honing his acting skills in school plays. Additional to acting, he was interested in sports, and played soccer on the school’s team.
However, as he got older, acting prevailed, and he focused on making a name for himself as an actor from when he was 10.

Jalyn made his acting debut in 2017, when he portrayed six-year-old Cotton in the critically acclaimed TV music-drama series “Star”, which starred Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady and Ryan Destiny. His character’s older version is one of the main stars of the series, and a transgender person.
Next, he had a minor role in the TV romantic-drama series “The Quad”, and the following year he was 8-year-old Dre in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning TV comedy series “Black-ish”, about an African-American family living in a predominantly white, upper-middle-class neighborhood, with Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross and Marcus Scribner in the lead roles.
Rise to Prominence
Jalyn’s first breakthrough role was as Dillon James in the sports drama series “All-American”. The series is based on the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger. Jalyn’s character, Dillon, is the younger brother of the series’ main character, Spencer James, and like his older brother, he’s interested in football but is too young to play the game. He then turns to basketball, but as he grows up, his interest switches to digital arts, and he eventually becomes Spencer’s graphic designer for his social media brand.
So far, Jalyn’s appeared in 40 episodes of the award-winning series, which stars Daniel Ezra, Samantha Logan and Michael Evans Behling.

The following year, Jalyn appeared in the animated adventure-comedy film “Space Jam”, which starred LeBron James and some other National Basketball Association stars in the new take on the popular story, in which alien creatures match up against star basketball players and Looney Tunes characters. The film received mixed reviews, but Jalyn’s popularity increased thanks to the international success of the film.
In 2022, Jalyn auditioned for a role in the film “Till”, but wasn’t told by the director that he would portray Emmet Till until it was time for the second audition. The film follows a harrowing true story of a young African-American boy who is murdered in a brutal lynching; directed by Chinonye Chukwu and co-stars Danielle Deadwyler and Frankie Faison.
To better prepare for his role, Jalyn met with Till’s relatives in Georgia prior to filming. The film premiered to positive reviews, and won several awards, further improving Jalyn’s popularity.
