Who is Tatu Baby?

Katherine ‘Kat’ Flores, known better as tattoo artist and reality television personality Tatu Baby, was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 28 October 1987, in Miami, Florida USA, thus she holds American nationality, but she comes from a family of Columbian descent, so her ethnicity is Latina. Tatu Baby is perhaps known best as the contestant in the reality television competition show “Ink Master”, which was held back in 2012, placing fourth with her tattoo of a wolf and Native American woman above a tomahawk.

Early life, family, and education

Tatu Baby was raised in Miami by her mother and step-father, since her biological father, who was apparently a drug kingpin in Queens, New York City, was killed when she was four years old.

The names of her parents haven’t been revealed, and in one of her interviews, Tatu Baby said that one of her father’s friends gave her advice that she shouldn’t go around repeating to people who her father was. According to Telegraph, her father was a ‘colleague of Pablo Escobar’, the Colombian drug lord, however, Tatu Baby doesn’t know much about her father, since her mother didn’t want to tell her more about him and his life. Apparently, after his death, her mother wanted to get out of the drug business and raise her daughter away from that world, however, in 2019, Tatu Baby was seen in the reality series “Cartel Crew”, which was about the lives of descendants of the Cartel life who were living in Miami, and the effects that the legacy has had on their upbringing.

Her mother wasn’t happy with her decision, and although the two have a close relationship, talking about Tatu Baby’s father causes tension between them. Speaking of Tatu Baby’s educational background, she attended a local high school, but upon matriculating in 2005, she didn’t enroll in college, rather pursuing her career as a tattoo artist. She got her first tattoo aged 14, and it was her mother’s idea to have matching tattoos – as Tatu Baby said, while she was sitting in the studio, she realized that she wants to become a tattoo artist.

Rose to prominence

After she participated in the 2012 competition show “Ink Master” and landed a fourth place, Tatu Baby rose to prominence as one of the most talented artists, and soon started her own tattoo studio, called ‘Till the End Tattoos’.

She established her own process when doing tattoos – ‘I talk to my clients a lot more now. I want to know what the story is, and what things mean to them. Nothing here is rushed’, said Tatu Baby for Miami News Times. Artistically, Tatu Baby was exploring morphing, a popular style of tattoo, and this was something different from her signature photo-realist style. In the third season of “Ink Master”, Tatu Baby placed third; she was already well-known for her work, and she had dozens of clients, while some of the celebrities that she has tattooed are Luis Fonsi, Jason Derulo, Rick Ross, and Balex; other clients have been basketball player Dayen Wade and boxer Canelo Alvarez.

Tatu Baby once spoke about doing some strange tattoos – the most memorable was a client who wanted a tattoo of Pinocchio, who asked that she use his penis as the nose, and she also said that she only once refused to do a tattoo, as the client was too drunk. Most of her work people can see on her official Instagram profile, which has been followed by nearly two million people, while she also has an Instagram account – ‘tatubabyatattoos’ – on which she posts her work, and this profile has amassed over 150,000 followers. In 2019, when “Cartel Crew” started airing, her name again came into the limelight, since in the past, Tatu Baby hadn’t spoken about her private life, and she now exposed her childhood and her family to the world.

Most of the “Cartel Crew” cast has connections to some of the scariest drug organizations, and being the daughter of one of those people for Tatu Baby was a chance to find out more about her father. Today, she is still an active tattoo artist in Miami, and some of her plans for the future are opening more tattoo studios, and launching her own clothing line.

Love life and relationships

There have been various rumors both concerning Tatu Baby’s love life and her sexual orientation, however, she’s confirmed that she‘s straight. She was romantically linked to Dave Navarro, a guitarist, and singer-songwriter, and some rumors were saying that she is in a relationship with Chris Nunez, a famous tattoo artist, and one of the judges of the “Ink Master” show, however, neither of the two assumptions has been confirmed.

It’s known that she was in a relationship with Eddie Soto, known as one of the cast members of the series “Cartel Crew”, and that they have a son together, namely Deniro Roman Soto, who was born in 2014. Eddie Soto was in jail (he was serving a three-year sentence for drug charges), and Tatu Baby waited for him, but apparently, the two broke up. They apparently reconciled later, however, their love story ended for good sometime in 2020. As of June 2022, Tatu Baby is in a relationship with Steve Butcher, also a tattoo artist, from Auckland, New Zealand, who currently lives in California.

It isn’t clear when the two began dating, but they recently started posting joint photos on their Instagram profiles, and on 30 May 2022, Tatu Baby posted a video featuring the two of them on a romantic beach picnic, with a description saying: ‘So Thankful for you…Amor mio’, and tagged Steve’s Instagram profile. Tatu Baby hasn’t been married or engaged, and has one child.

Tatu Baby’s age is 34; she has long black hair and brown eyes, weighs around 130lbs (60kgs) and is 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall, with vital statistics of 36-26-38.

Many people say that she has a ‘Kim Kardashian’ figure, but the difference between them is certainly numerous tattoos on Tatu Baby’s body, counting over 20.
