Early life and education
Hamish was born under the zodiac sign of Cancer on 7 July 1976, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts USA; he holds American nationality, although he comes from a family of Scottish, German, Swedish, Flemish, English and Irish descent.
His father is James Lincoln Cormeny, however nothing is known about his, especially as after his parents divorced, Hamish was raised by his mother, Kristin Linklater, who was a vocal teacher, Professor of Theatre, and Chair of the Acting Division at Columbia University in New York City.
Hamish spent most of his childhood with his mother in Berkshires, Massachusetts, and from an early age, he became a part of her drama troupe Shakespeare & Company, performing small roles in theatre.
Speaking of his educational background, he attended Commonwealth School, in Boston, Massachusetts, and upon matriculating in 1994, he enrolled at Amherst College, Massachusetts, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English, in 1997.

After graduation, Hamish at first established his theatre career, and then in 2000 made his big-screen debut portraying David in the musical drama “Groove”, followed two years later by his role as Richard Roth in the TV movie “Live from Baghdad”.
The early 2000s saw him as Marty in “Final Draft”, and then he starred in several short movies through 2005, when he was cast to play Leonard in “Fantastic Four”, also starring Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffudd.
In 2010, Hamish was cast to play Jason in “The Future”, followed by his role as Cal Zapata in “Battleship” in 2012, and in the same year, Hamish portrayed Henry in “Lola Versus”, while in the following year, he was seen as Ralph Branca in “42”, a biographical sports drama written and directed by Brian Helgeland, followed by his role as David in “Redemption Trail”.

Hamish made his first television appearance portraying Doctor Bruce Cherry in the series “Gideon’s Crossing” in 2000, followed by his aforementioned appearance in “Live in Baghdad, then a guest role in “Dragnet” in 2003, and was next seen as Pvt. Stan Silver in “American Dreams” in 2004, concurrently starring as Carl Axelrod in the TV mini-series “5ive Days to Midnight”.
In the following years, Hamish guest-starred in numerous series, while from 2006 until 2010, he portrayed Matthew Kimble in “The New Adventures of Old Christine”, a Primetime Emmy awarded comedy drama, also starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Clark Gregg.

Lily was raised in New York City, and launched her acting career in 2001, while she also has several directing and producing credits to her name.
Hamish and Lily met in 2006, while they were both auditioning for roles in the play “The Merchant of Venice”, and bonded during the rehearsals, their fellows noticing the chemistry between the two, however, at that time Hamish was married, so the two remained close friends.
Although they tried to keep their relationship away from the public eye, in 2013, it was clear that they were dating, which they later confirmed. In 2017, they became parents when Lily gave birth to their first daughter, while the second was born in 2020, and in September 2021, Lily revealed that they are expecting their third child.
