Ella Hunt is a famed English actress and singer, who rose to prominence at the age of 11, after she was discovered performing in the play “The Mikado” by an agent.  She is perhaps most famous for appearing in the film “Anna and the Apocalypse” in 2018, and the TV series “Dickinson” in 2019.

Career

Hunt began her career as a child actress in 2011, with her role in the Juan Carlos Fresnadillo-directed supernatural horror movie “Intruders,” which stars Ella Purnell, Clive Owen, Kerry Fox and Carice van Houten among others.  The film is about a woman and a man trying to save their children from Hollow Face, an imaginary monster, which is trying to steal their souls and faces. Ella was later featured in the 2012 Tom Hooper-directed musical film, “Les Misérables”, alongside Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, with several other notable actors. The film was nominated for many awards and won three Golden Globes, four British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), and many others.

In 2014, Ella appeared in “Robot Overlords” before making her TV debut with the role of Ellie Marsden in the ITV series “Cold Feet.” In 2018, she appeared in the movie “Anna and the Apocalypse,” which saw her win an award., and then in the film “Summer Night” in 2019.

Her next role in the Apple original TV series “Dickinson” (from 2019) saw her relocating to New York, where she became good friends with the show’s protagonist, Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Emily Dickinson. In an interview with WWD magazine, she talked about the experience of moving to the US, saying, ‘It’s terrifying going ‘OK, I’m moving to New York,’. But I just had this kind of feeling of ‘I am 20, I’ve got this job, and let’s just make a home there, build a life there.’ So, I guess I feel like I am at the beginning of my life, basically.’

Ella is also famous for her recent role as Daisy Edgar’s twin sister in the romantic TV series “Normal People,” which is based on an Irish drama produced by Element Pictures for Hulu and BBC Three. She recently featured in the film “Kat and the Band” in 2020.
