Who is Seth Green?
Seth Benjamin Gesshel-Green was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, on 8 February 1974 – his zodiac sign’s Aquarius, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor, film writer, producer and director, with more than 200 acting credits to his name, probably known best for his voicing of various lead characters in the critically acclaimed short animated adventure series “Robot Chicken”, which he also co-created together with Matthew Senreich and Mike Fasolo. It follows the adventures of a mad scientist and a robot chicken, the series has been airing since 2001 and has won 17 awards, including six Primetime Emmys, while it’s been nominated for 35 other awards.
Early life and education
Seth was raised in Overbrook Park, Philadelphia alongside his sister Kaela, by their father Herbert Green and mother Barbara (nee Gesshel); he eventually changed his last name from ‘Gesshel-Green’ to just ‘Green’. Seth was raised Jewish, and has Russian, Scottish and Polish ancestry.
He fell in love with acting and comedy at a very young age, and some of his early influences were Monty Python, Bill Cosby and Blackadder. Seth was 10 when he made his debut film appearance, playing Egg in the 1984 comedy movie “The Hotel New Hampshire”, and the same year saw him make his debut TV series appearance, playing Charlie in the episode “Charlie’s Christmas Secret” of the family drama “Young People’s Specials”.
He went on to act throughout his entire education: Seth studied at a local high school in Los Angeles, California having moved there so that he could work on his way up in the film industry; he matriculated in 1992, and then didn’t attend college.
Roles in movies
A couple of Seth’s most notable performances in the ‘80s were in the 1984 comedy “Billions for Boris” the 1986 fantasy comedy “Willy/Milly”, and the 1987 romantic comedy drama “Can’t Buy Me Love”.
He gained recognition in 1992, when cast to play Vampire in the hit action fantasy comedy “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui, and which starred Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland and Paul Reubens. It follows teenager Buffy Summers who’s learned that she’s destined to fight vampires, and the movie was nominated for a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Actress (Kristy Swanson).
Seth went on to play Scott Evil in the hit 1997 adventure comedy “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery”, directed by Jay Roach, and which starred Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley and Michael York. It follows a playboy and secret agent as he’s battling Dr. Evil, and the movie won three of the 11 awards for which it was nominated.
Seth appeared in a couple of award-winning movies in the 2000s, such as the 2001 musical comedy “Josie and the Pussycats”, the 2003 action crime thriller “The Italian Job”, and the 2008 romantic comedy “Sex Drive”.
He was cast to play Dino in the 2014 musical drama “The Identical”, directed by Dustin Marcellino, and which starred Blake Rayne, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd. It follows twin brothers who were separated at birth, with one of them having become a famous rock ‘n’ roll singer; the movie ‘won’ a Houston Film Critics Society Award for Worst Picture.

Seth’s first notable performance in a TV series was in 1991, when cast to play David in the comedy “Good & Evil”, created by Susan Harris, and which starred Teri Garr, Margaret Whitton and Mark Blankfield. It follows the lives of two entirely different sisters, and the series was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Comedian in a Television Series (Seth Green).
The remainder of the ‘90s saw him play characters in a couple of popular series, including the drama “The Byrds of Paradise”, the comedy “Temporarily Yours”, and the action fantasy drama “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.
Seth next starred as Jimmy Bender in the popular comedy “Greg the Bunny”, alongside Eugene Levy and Bob Gunton. Created by Spencer Chinoy and Steven Levitan, it follows the life of the puppet Greg the Bunny; the series aired from 2002 to 2004, and was nominated for two awards.
In 2013 and 2014, Seth played the main character Eli Sachs in the comedy “Dads”, created by Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin, and which also starred Giovanni Ribisi and Brenda Song. It tells the story of two men in their 30s whose fathers have just moved in with them, and the series was nominated for a People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy.
Since 1999, he’s voiced the lead character Chris Griffin, in 389 episodes of the critically acclaimed animated comedy “Family Guy”.
His most recent roles in TV series have been in the 2022 episode “Kill Team Kill” of the short, animated action hit “Love, Death & Robots”, and two episodes of the action crime adventure “Stargirl”, also in 2022.

Seth has 12 writing, 30 producing and 11 directing credits – some of his most notable producing work has been of the episodes “The Fabulous Faker Boy” (2013), “The Cad and the Hat” (2017) and “The Wayz We Were” (2021) of the hit animated comedy series “The Simpsons”, eight episodes of the 2021 animated comedy series “Santa Inc.” and 226 episodes of the series “Robot Chicken” since 2005.

The two have collaborated on many movies and TV series, including “Robot Chicken”, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, and “Hulk and the Agents of S. M. A. S. H.”. They don’t have children together, and although neither has disclosed why, it’s believed by their fans that they prefer to focus on their careers, rather than to raise a family.
Seth hasn’t spoken of other women whom he might had dated prior to meeting Clare; he’s married to Clare Camille Johnson as of September 2022, and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and interesting facts
Back in 2000, Seth revealed that he didn’t believe in God, and that he considers the entire story to be a myth, created so that people wouldn’t feel responsible for their own actions. He then stated in 2013 that he believed ‘in the divinity of the Universe’, and that there are so many things which he doesn’t understand about the world.
Seth’s followed by more than 1.2 million people on Instagram, and is thus quite active on the network; there are more than 600 pictures and videos uploaded onto his account, most of which have comedy content.
He’s a huge cat-lover, and has a pet cat MollyWesley which can be seen featured in his Instagram pictures.
