Who is Danielle Deadwyler?

Danielle was born in Atlanta, Georgia USA on 3 May 1982 – her zodiac sign is Taurus, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress, author and film producer, with more than 30 acting credits to her name, while she’s probably known best for her portrayal of Cuffee in the 2021 action western movie “The Harder They Fall”, written and directed by Jeymes Samuel, and which starred Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz and RJ Cyler. It follows an outlaw who’s reunited his old gang, wanting to seek revenge against his enemy who’s just been released from prison; the movie won 27 awards, including a BAFTA Film Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer, while it was nominated for 80 other awards.

Early life and education

Danielle was raised in Atlanta alongside her older sister Gabrielle Fulton, by their father who prefers to stay away from the media’s attention, and their mother Carolyn G Deadwyler who’s a housewife; Danielle’s sister Gabrielle is today a playwrite.

Danielle studied at Grady High School, and it was during her four years there that she became interested in acting, and could’ve been seen appearing in various school and theatre plays, however, her parents urged her to focus on her education, and to pursue acting afterwards.

Danielle was interested in a couple of other activities during her teenage years, and was physically highly active, as she played both volleyball and basketball for her high school teams. Upon matriculating in 2000, she enrolled at Spelman College, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2004; she continued her education at Columbia University, and graduated with a Master’s degree in 2006.

Roles in movies

Danielle made her debut film appearance in the 2010 short romantic drama “Cyburbia”, while a couple of her following roles were in the 2012 drama “A Cross to Bear”, the 2013 short family drama “Sweet, Sweet Country”, and the 2014 short family drama “Ir/Reconcilable”.

It was only in 2017 that Danielle gained recognition, when cast to play Animal Shelter Worker in the critically acclaimed drama “Gifted”, directed by Marc Webb, and which starred Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace and Lindsay Duncan. It follows single man Frank as he’s raising his niece Mary, and the movie won six of the 13 awards for which it was nominated.

Danielle’s also known for her portrayal of an extra in the 2017 adventure comedy drama “The Leisure Seeker”, directed by Paolo Virzi, and which starred Helen Mirren, Donald Sutherland and Christian McKay. It follows a runaway couple who’ve gone on a road trip in their old RV; the film won three of the 13 awards for which it was nominated.

Three of Danielle’s most recent film roles, with the exception of “The Harder They Fall”, have been in the 2018 drama “Jane and Emma”, the 2019 thriller “The Devil to Pay” and in the same year the short action drama “Black Dispatch”. As of mid-2022, she’s shooting for five upcoming movies, including “It’s Time”, “Bygone Billy”, and “Parallel”.

Roles in TV series

Danielle made her debut TV series appearance in the 2013 episode “Ghetto Love” of the comedy “Mommy Uncensored (TM)”, and the following years saw her appear in an episode or two of various series, such as the romantic thriller “Being Mary Jane”, the drama “Greenleaf”, and the action adventure drama “MacGyver”.

Between 2016 and 2020, Danielle played the supporting character LaQuita ‘Quita’ Maxwell in the popular mystery crime drama “The Haves and the Have Nots”, created by Tyler Perry, and which starred Tika Sumpter, Crystal Fox and John Schneider. It follows the lives of members of the Harrington and Cryer families, the series aired from 2013 to 2021, and won a 2015 Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Female Actor – One To Watch, for Angela Robinson.

Danielle’s also known for her portrayal of Nicque Green, one of the lead characters in all 10 episodes of the 2020 mystery drama “Paradise Lost”, created by Rodes Fishburne, and which also starred Bridget Regan and Shane McRae. It follows a man who’s returned to his hometown after having studied and worked abroad for many years.

Danielle’s most recent TV series role has been her portrayal of Miranda Carroll in the 2022 adventure fantasy mini-series “Station Eleven”, while she’s currently shooting for the upcoming series “From Scratch” and “Demimonde”.

Danielle made a guest appearance in a 2019 episode of the talk-show “The AFC Indie Filmmaking Podcast”.

She has three producing credits: the 2014 movie “Ir/Reconcilable”, the 2019 thriller movie “The Devil to Pay”, and the upcoming film “Parallel”.

Danielle’s won four of the six awards for which she’s been nominated – her wins include a 2019 GenreBlast Film Festival Award for Best Actress – Feature Film for “Reckoning”, a 2021 Gotham Tribute Award for her and her colleagues’ performance in “The Harder They Fall”, and a 2022 Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, also for “The Harder They Fall”.

Husband and kids

Danielle prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, but it’s still widely known that she’s today a married woman. She exchanged vows with American businessman and CEO of Vectour Group Reggie Haslam in a private ceremony, attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; the two haven’t disclosed the exact date of the wedding, but it’s believed to have been in 2015.

They have a son Ezra together, but Danielle and Reggie are keeping the boy away from the media’s attention, and not even his birthdate is known.

Neither has spoken of any other people whom they’ve perhaps been with, so as of July 2022, Danielle’s married to Reggie Haslam, and they have a son together.

Hobbies and other interests

Danielle’s quite active on Instagram, and is today followed by more than 10,000 people on the network, while she’s uploaded 30 pictures and videos, the majority of which feature her during her everyday life.

She’s interested in all kinds of art, especially in painting and drawing, and has been to various art galleries around the US.

Danielle’s also passionate about travelling, and her career’s taken her to a couple of US states, as well as to several European countries, while her dream travel destination’s Paris, France.

She has multiple training sessions at the gym every week, mostly because it’s important for her acting career to stay in shape; Danielle’s also taking good care of her mental health, and does yoga on a daily basis.

She has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Jim Carrey, Will Smith and Rosario Dawson, while a couple of her favorite films include “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective – When Nature Calls”, “Seven Pounds” and “I Am Legend”.

Danielle’s age is 40. She has long black hair and brown eyes, her height is 5ft 5ins (1.65m) and she weighs around 120lbs (55kgs).
