A singer and actress with over 60 credits to her name, Maribel Guardia rose to prominence after she became Miss Costa Rica in 1978, placed as a top 15 semi-finalist in the Miss World beauty pageant the same year, and also represented her country at the Miss Universe contest, where she was selected as Miss Photogenic.

She launched her acting career in the ’80s, making appearances in numerous telenovelas, such as “Tu y Yo”, “Serafin”, and “Nina de mi Corazon” among others, and released a series of albums in the Norteño music genre, debut album came out in 1988.

Maribel was born as Maribel Del Rocio Fernandez Garcia, under the zodiac sign of Gemini on 29 May 1959, in San Jose, Costa Rica – she holds both Costa Rican and Mexican nationality, while her ethnicity is Latino.
