Who is Catherine Siachoque?
Catherine is a Colombian actress, perhaps still best known to the world as Juana Caridad Galante in the telenovela “Las Juanas” (1997) and more recently as Hilda Santana Flores in the telenovela “Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso” (2008-2009), in addition to many other notable roles.
Age, Childhood, and Education
Maria Alexandra Catherine Siachoque Gaete was born on 21 January 1973, in Bogota, Colombia, the daughter of Blanca Gaete and Felix Siachoque. She has a brother, Juan Jacobo Siachoque.
She began learning the English language from an early age, while also attending ballet lessons, which later helped in her career.
After finishing high school, Catherine moved to the USA, but is only now, aged over 50, enrolled at the prestigious University of Miami to study a Bachelor of General Studies in International Relations. Moreover, she’s also been accepted into the eminent Harvard University to study the business of entertainment, media, and sports.
Career Beginnings
Catherine made her acting debut in the mid- ’90s in the TV series “Mambo” (1994), which starred Roberto Escobar, Flora Martinez, and Luis Eduardo Arango. The following year, she secured her first lead role in the short-lived romantic-drama series “Sobrevivir”, co-starring Ana Maria Arango and Vicky Hernandez.
In 1996, Catherine joined the main cast of the telenovela “La Sombra Del Deseo”, which starred Amparo Grisales, Omar Fierro, and Diego Vasquez, among others.
Rise to Prominence
Her first major breakthrough came in 1997, with the role of Juana Caridad in the award-winning telenovela “Las Juanas”, the story of five half-sisters, all named Juanas, daughters of the dying Don Calixto Salguero, who he fathered with five different women. Catherine won the Colombian Television Award in the category for Best Actress at Cartagena Film Festival.
Before the decade ended, Catherine featured in several highly-acclaimed telenovelas. She was Silvia Stella Graniani in the telenovela “La Sombra Del Arco Iris”, co-starring Miguel Varoni and Alvaro Bayona, then starred with Carolina Cuervo and Sandra Reyes in the telenovela “Tan Cerca Y Tan Lejos”.
She then starred as Rosa Emilia Carrillo in the telenovela “La Guerra De La Rosas”, which follows two girls named Rosa fighting for the love of Ricardo Diaz, portrayed by Luigi Accardi.
Continued Success
Catherine began the new millennium as Micaela Fernandez, the main villain in the critically-acclaimed telenovela “Amantes Del Desierto”. The main antagonist is later killed in the series by her ex-husband, Miguel Santana – the series follows two lovers, Andres, a man sentenced to spend 12 years in a cliff prison, and Barbara, the step-daughter of the prison commandant, who helps Andres escape. They are chased by Miguel and his forces, escaping numerous traps on their way to freedom.
Catherine was praised for her work, and so started to being typecast, as the main villain in several telenovelas that followed.
Next, she was the villai, Grazia Fontana, in the telenovela “La Venganza” (2002-2003), opposite Gabriela Spanic and Jose Angel Llamas. From 2004 to 2005, she was the main star of the telenovela “Te Voy a Ensenar a Querer”, as Deborah Buenrostro, co-starring Miguel Varono and Danna Garcia. In 2006, she joined Gabriela Spanic, Saul Lisazo, and Hector Suarez in the telenovela “Tierra de Pasiones”, again as the main villain who marries the owner of a farm, and drives him to bankruptcy and the brink of suicide.

The following year, Catherine starred with Lorena Rojas and Mauricio Islas in all 167 episodes of the telenovela “Pecados Ajenos”, as Ines Vallejo de Mercenacio, another antagonistic character who fakes friendship with the main heroine, and gets her into all kind of trouble.
In 2008, she was selected for the role of Hilda Santana Flores, a sympathetic mother of two living in poverty in the telenovela “Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso”, based on the novel by Gustavo Bolivar. The series follows a young prostitute who’ll stop at nothing to succeed in the wide world. Catherine reprised the role in the sequel series “Sin Senos Si Hay Paraiso” (2016-2018) and “El Final Del Paraiso” in 2019, offering closure on the entire adventure.
In 2010 she was one of the main stars in the TV crime-action series “Donde Esta Elisa?”, co-starring Sonya Smith and Gabriel Porras. She then portrayed Ignacia Conde in the telenovela “La Casa De Al Lado”, which starred Gabriel Porras, Wayne LeGette and Maritza Rodriguez.
To speak further of her accomplishments, she returned as the villainous character Estefania Perez Hidalgo, in the telenovela “Reina De Corazones”, with Paola Nunez as a girl in love but experiencing numerous issues on her way to finding true love, co-starring Eugenio Siller and Juan Soler.
Moreover, she joined the main cast of the telenovela “Oscuro Deseo” consisting of Maite Perroni, Erik Hauser, and Jorge Poza, as Lys Antoine, the aunt and foster mother of the main character with whom she slept.
Catherine is now working on the upcoming telenovela “La Mujer De Mi Vida”, co-starring with Angelica Celaya and Francisco D Gonzalez. The series is set to premiere later in 2022.

Miguel and Catherine worked together on several projects, including “Las Sombra Del Arco Iris”, then “Te Voy A Ensenar A Querer”, among others. Miguel has appeared in numerous telenovelas, and has most recently worked on “El Senor De Los Cielos” (2017-2018).
