Karen Gravano is a well-known American TV personality, writer and businesswoman.  She is the daughter of former Italian underworld boss from the Gambino family, Sammy Gravano.

Karen has been involved in several romantic relationships, but has only one daughter.

Early life, family, educational background

Karen was born in Brooklyn, New York City, USA, on 8 May 1972, to her parents Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano and Debra Scibetta; she belongs to white ethnicity and the Christian religion. She has a brother called Gerard.

All that is known is that she did some courses on beauty and care of the body. There exists information about something very eccentric her father did when she finished high school: he bought her a flower shop as a reward for her achievement.

When she was nineteen years old, her father joined the mafia, although at the age of ten she already had suspicions about Sammy being a murderer, because she accidentally saw a gun in her father’s bedroom.

In 1992, after her father gave evidence against John Gotti, the government sent Karen and her family to Arizona, US,  under a witnesses protection program.  After some time, she returned to Staten Island, New York, because she wanted to start a new life, away from the dirty business of her father, although it was actually impossible for her to come unstuck.

Sammy the Bull Gravano

Karen´s father, Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano, was born on 12 March 1945.  He was married to Debra Scibetta from 1976 to 1996, when they divorced.

As a member of the Mafia, he confessed  to be the murderer of nineteen people, but wasn’t prosecuted for these crimes because of his decision to turn government witness. In this sense, he played a fundamental role in the  prosecution of Italian gangster John Gotti. He still served a prison sentence from 2000 to 2018,related to the trafficking of drugs.

Career

Karen started her working life when she opened her spa in Arizona, then became popular because of her participation in the famous TV show “Mob Wives”, which was featured on VH1from April 2011 to March 2016.

This series depicted the lives of seven women whose husbands belonged to the Mafia, and was a great success with the US viewing public.

In the year 2012, with the collaboration of writer and journalist Liza Pultizer, Karen co-authored the book “Mob Daughter: The Mafia, Sammy the Bull Gravano, and me!”, which became a best seller.

Another side of Karen as a businesswoman is that she runs her own  restaurant – “Pizza Nostra” – in New Jersey, US.

Her return to television was hand in hand with her daughter, Karina Seabrook, for the first and second seasons of the series “Families of the Mafia”, of which she is also the producer and co-creator.

Apart from the Gravanos, the other families in this reality show were the Cutolos, the La Roccas, the O´Tooles, the Nayfelds, and the Augustines.

At present, there are some rumors about a restart of “Mob Wives”, although they haven’t been confirmed officially.

Personal life

Karen has been involved in some scandals, especially during her period in “Mob Wives”, when she  had fights and arguments with some of the other stars in the show, such as Natalia Guercio and Drita D’Avanzo.

In 2000, Karen was arrested together with her father, brother Gerard and her partner David Seabrook, among others – because she ran a drug ring that commercialized ecstasy in the area that goes from Arizona to New York.  However, she wasn’t sent to prison, but was instead given some years’ probation.

As regards her romantic life, she has been involved in several relationships. Her best-known partners have been David Seabrook, with whom she has her only daughter, Lee D’Avanzo, Giovan Stom, and Xavier Williams.

Who is David Seabrook?

David Seabrook is from Queens, New York City; he met Karen in 1996 at the China Club, in New York.  Although they never married, they have a daughter, Karina Gravano, who was born in 1999. He got involved in the drug business with Karen´s family, and was arrested in 2000 with other members of the organization. He was sentenced 18 years jail, and for this reason missed his daughter´s childhood.

Other relationships: D’Avanzo, Storm and Williams

Karen and Lee D’Avanzo started dating when she was 19 years old and their relationship went on for seven years. They lived together in Arizona and Staten Island for four years, but Lee left Karen to marry her friend Drita, who co-starred in “Mob Wives”.

Then, in 2013, Karen started a relationship with Giovan Storm; they had their ups and downs and were together for about four years.

As for Xavier Williams, Karen and he first met in the 1990s, but it wasn’t until 2015/2016 that they started going out. Their relationship is not easy because Xavier is in prison. He belonged to a Bronx drug ring, and was sentenced for life in 2005 under the charges of drug trafficking and racketeering, among others.

Ozzy Osbourne

Jessica´s father,  John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne was born in the UK in 1948. He started his career as the lead vocalist of “Black Sabbath”, a heavy metal band and became famous almost immediately, being known as the “Prince of Darkness”, however, his problems with alcohol and drugs saw him fired from the band in 1979. Anyway, his career wasn´t affected by this event; on the contrary, he continued growing as a solo singer and through his incredibly successful and long-lasting career, he became known as the “Godfather of Metal”.

His personal life wasn’t as brilliant as his professional life; he wasn’t an ideal father to his children, especially to Jessica and Louis, with whom he had a distant relationship. A clear example of this is an event that occurred in an episode of the reality show “The Osbournes” – Jessica didn’t take part in this show, but there was a comment about her in the episode “Smells Like Teen Spirit” that caused a great impact among the audience; that Jessica had given birth to a baby girl.
