Who is Alexa Swinton?
Fans of the science-fiction drama series “Emergence“ are certainly familiar with the character of Piper, a synthetic life form with the appearance of a young girl, and the (still) child actress who portrayed this character is Alexa Swinton, who besides the mentioned role, already has over 20 acting credits, perhaps known best for her role as Rose Goldenblatt in the series “And Just Like That…“, a spin-off from the famous romantic drama “Sex and the City“.
Alexa is a member of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), and also starred in numerous movies, and her most notable role, to date, is her portrayal of Annie in the 2020 short movie “Reverb“, which brought her the Santa Fe Film Festival Award for Best Performance. She is also a singer-songwriter and she released her debut single “You, My and My Purple Docs“ in 2020.
Early life, family, and education
Alexa Skye Swinton was born under the zodiac sign of Cancer, on 2 July 2009, in New York City USA thus she holds American nationality although she comes from a family of Canadian, Scottish, English and Russian-Jewish descent.
She was raised in her hometown by her parents; her father, Rolfe Swinton, is a data and technology entrepreneur, and is the 36th head of the Swinton clan; although he was born in Canada, their family is one of the oldest in Scotland, which makes the Oscar-awarded actress Tilda Swinton their distant relative.
Alexa’s mother, Inna Swinton, who is also an actress perhaps known best for starring in short movies, such as “Piece of You“, was born in Riga, Latvia, and when she was nine years old, she immigrated with her parents to New Jersey, US.
Alexa has two siblings – her sister Ava is also a singer and musician, and her brother Maxim is a stand-up comedian, actor and singer.
Being raised by a performer, it isn’t surprising that Alexa had an interest in acting from an early age. Her mother recognized her talent, and began taking her on auditions, resulting in Alexa making her acting debut when she was three years old.
Speaking of her educational background, Alexa is notionally a high-school student, presumably mixing study with acting.
Roles in series
Making her acting debut as Ellie in the series “Mythos“ in 2012, Alexa waited for her next role for three years, when she was cast to play Young Claire in the TV mini-series “Flesh and Bone“, and she was then seen as Eva Rhodes in “Billions“, a recurring role from 2016 until 2021.
Concurrently, Alexa made guest appearances in “Saturday Night Live“ (2016) and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon“ (2018), followed by her guest role as Chloe in an episode of the series “Manifest“ in 2019.
In the same year, and broadcast until 2020, she was cast to play Piper in “Emergence“, also starring Allison Tolman and Owain Yeoman, and the series follows the story of a police chief who investigates a case involving a young child found near the site of a mysterious accident.
In the following year, she was seen as Rose Goldenblat in “And Just Like That…“, also starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, and the series is currently airing on the Home Box Office Max (HBO) channel.
Roles in movies
Alexa made her first movie appearance in the 2014 movie “River of Fundament”, followed by her role as Wella in the short movie “Rest in Peace” in 2016, and then in the following years, she was seen as Young Rose in “The Speed of Light” (2017) and in 2018 starred in “Nettles”, “Umami”, and “Little Brain Surgeries”.
In 2019, Alexa portrayed Baby in the eponymous short drama, and then cast to play Annie in “Reverb” in 2020, followed by her roles in “Muyu” and “I’ve Lost Her”, while in the following year, she was seen as Molly in the romantic drama “Sometime Other Than Now”, also starring Kate Walsh, Trieste Kelly Dunn, and Donal Logue.

In the same year, she was cast to play Maddox (Aged 11) in the horror mystery drama “Old” based on the novel “Sandcastle” by Frederik Peeters and Pierre-Oscar Levy, while Alexa’s most recent movie role was her portrayal of Dolores in the 2022 short movie “Love’s Baby Soft”.
Later in 2022 and in 2023, she will be seen in two new short movies, entitled “BeLoved” and “Kooky Spook”, which are currently developing and filming respectively.
Love life and relationships
Alexa hasn’t been the subject of any rumors or controversies concerning both her love life and sexual orientation, but at age 13 that is understandable.
Hobbies and other interests
Like many youngsters, Alexa is mostly active on her Instagram profile (monitored by her parents), which has been followed by over 15,000 people, mostly posting photos featuring her family, friends and work.
As mentioned, she’s also a musician, and enjoys singing and dancing too – her idol is Adele, and her favorite song is “Someone Like You“.
In her spare time, Alexa likes to go ride a bicycle or for a walk with her brother and sister, but her favorite hobby is skateboarding; Alexa said that her clothing style is a ‘skateboard girl style’, and in her interview for Fandomize she also said: ‘I love jewelry and makeup so I play a lot around with accessories and stuff, which is always really fun. My style consists of a bunch of accessories, oversized band tees, baggy jeans, and also a really fun shoe,’ adding that her shoes are the biggest thing in her life and that she is in love with them.
She also enjoys watching movies – her favorite actor is Timothee Chalamet, and her favorite actress is Zendaya. Alexa likes romantic comedies, but also enjoys animated movies such as “Hotel Transylvania“.

Alexa’s age is 13, she has long brown hair and piercing blue eyes, weighs around 110lbs (50kgs) and is 5ft 3ins (1.6m) tall.
According to sources, as of July 2022, her net worth has been estimated at over $250,000 which is a decent amount of money for someone of her age, most of her income earned thanks to her acting career.
