Who is Ryan Guzman?

Ryan was born in Abilene, Texas USA, on 21 September 1987 – his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor and former model, with more than 20 acting credits to his name, while he’s probably known best for his portrayal of the lead character Noah Sandborn in the popular 2015 thriller “The Boy Next Door”. It was directed by Rob Cohen, also starred Jennifer Lopez and Kristin Chenoweth, and follows a married woman who’s fallen in love with a boy next door; the movie won one of the seven awards for which it was nominated.

Early life and education

Ryan was raised in Abilene alongside his younger brother Steven, by their American mother Lisa Anne (nee Hudson) who was a teacher, and their Mexican father Ramon Guzman Jr. who’d emigrated from Mexico to the US a couple of years before Ryan was born; the family moved to Sacramento, California when Ryan was 13.

He studied at West Campus High School, and it was during his four years there that he became interested in acting, appearing in various plays performed at the school; Ryan was also into sports while growing up, and was only 10 years old when he earned his black belt in Taekwondo, while he played both baseball and soccer at West Campus.

Upon matriculating in 2005, he enrolled at Sierra College, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2009.

Ryan made his debut film appearance in the 2012 romantic musical drama “Step Up Revolution”, directed by Scott Speer, and in which he starred alongside Kathryn McCormick and Cleopatra Coleman. It follows Emily who’s just arrived to Miami, Florida with her businessman father, and has fallen in love with Sean, the leader of a local dance crew; the movie was nominated or a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for Best Music Supervision for Film Budgeted Over 25 Million Dollars.

A couple of Ryan’s following roles were in the 2013 comedy “Ladies’ Man: A Made Movie”, the romantic musical comedy “Always Woodstock” and the action “April Rain” both in 2014.

Marlene King, and which starred Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale. It follows four friends who’ve teamed up to find an anonymous person who threatens to expose their darkest secrets, the series aired from 2010 to 2017 (Ryan was a member of the cast in 2013 and 2014) and won 45 of the 91 awards for which it was nominated.

He played Carlos Gutierrez in all the 13 episodes of the 2016 science fiction fantasy mini-series “Heroes Reborn”, and Ryan Mills in all the 10 episodes of the 2016 thriller drama “Notorious”.

Since 2018, Ryan’s been starring as Eddie Diaz in the critically acclaimed action thriller drama “9-1-1”, created by Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, and as of mid-2022 stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause and Oliver Stark. It follows the lives of several police officers and firefighters, and the series has won 10 of the 30 awards for which it’s been nominated.

Other credits

Ryan sang the song “We Got Heart” in the 2015 movie “Jem and the Holograms”, “Cherokee ChaChow” in the 2016 movie “Everybody Wants Some!!”, and “We Got Heart” in a 2016 episode of the series “Nostalgia Critic”.

He’s made a guest appearance in a number of talk-shows, most recently in “Celebrity Page”, “Home & Family” and “Entertainment Tonight”.

Ryan’s won a single award: a 2019 Los Angeles Film April Award for Best Actor (Feature Film), for his performance in “Windows on the World”.

He was also nominated for a 2015 Teen Choice Award for Choice Hottie: Male, and a 2016 Imagen Foundation Award for Best Actor – Feature Film, for his performance in “Beyond Paradise”.

Love life and girlfriend

Ryan’s more or less secretive when it comes to sharing the details of his love life with his fans, but it’s widely known that he’s today engaged, and is a father of two. He and Brazilian actress Chrystiane ‘Chrysti’ Lopes revealed that they were in a relationship in 2018, and it was only a year later that they became engaged. Chrysti has only four acting credits to her name, probably known best for her portrayal of Pink Ninja Steel Ranger in the action adventure series “Power Rangers Ninja Steel”, which aired in 2017 and 2018.

Chrysti gave birth to her and Ryan’s son Mateo Lopes on 24 January 2019, and their daughter Genevieve Valentina followed on 7 January 2021.

Ryan hasn’t mentioned any other women whom he’s perhaps been with, and as of July 2022, he’s engaged to Chrystiane Lopes, and they have two children together.

Hobbies and other interests

Ryan seems to be enjoying the attention which he’s receiving from his more than 900,000 Instagram followers, and he’s thus quite active on the network; he’s uploaded over 650 pictures and videos, most of which have been taken during his everyday life. As he’s a huge fan of photography, some of these pictures have been taken by him.

One of Ryan’s favorite hobbies is travelling, and his acting career’s taken him all around the world, while his dream travel destination is Norway.

Winter’s his favorite season, as he loves snow and enjoys skiing and snowboarding.

Ryan has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Al Pacino, Will Smith and Helena Bonham Carter, while a couple of his favorite movies include the trilogy “The Godfather”, “Scarface” and “Scent of a Woman”.
