Shamin Abas was born on 11 April 1969, in Llangdegfan, Wales, UK. Of English and Persian ancestry, her father was a mathematics teacher at the University of North Wales in Bangor, while her mother was a jazz singer and a homemaker in her later life. Shamin spent her childhood in her hometown with her brother and two sisters.

Her educational background is unknown, though it is believed that she matriculated from a local high school and later obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from a prestigious university. Unfortunately, until she confirms anything, all this is just speculation.

She started her career with Chrysler as a spokesmodel, honing her skills and gaining experience  in the industry, before she opted for a career as a businesswoman.

In 2005, Shamin started her own publicist company, Shamin Abas Communications, Brand Marketing & Business Development for Ultra-Luxury Brand, and since then has worked with a number of high-profile brands and individuals. Some of her clients include Rolls-Royce, NetJets, Ferrari, Riva, Aston Martin, Dom Perignon and Karma Automotive among many others.

She’s become a well-respected name in the business and has secured numerous notable clients, launching countless successful projects over 17 years of her career, and has teamed-up with like-minded people to make her company stand out in the marketplace.

When it comes to her personal life, there aren’t many details available about her, before her relationship with Lauer.

According to reports, she’s married and divorced two times. Her first husband was a Detroit-based cosmetic dentist – his name remains a mystery, but the two lived in Detroit and New York for some time together before they split in 1999.

In 2003, Shamin married her second husband, Fred Cilione; the couple launched their restaurant; however, their business fell through the same year. Financial problems put a strain on their romance, and the couple divorced in 2007, dividing their assets equally. However, she claimed that the divorce was messy, and with two failed marriages, Shamin says that she doesn’t want to marry again.

Shamin and Matt have a long history together. The two met in the late ’90s, and worked together on a couple of projects, often being seen together at business dinners, and have been good friends for 20 years. In 2019, when Matt divorced his wife Annette Roque, they needed only three months to start dating.

Since then, the couple has started living together in Matt Lauer’s New York apartment, and in addition, they go on business trips together. Most recently, they attended a car show in the Hamptons, at which Matt’s ex-wife was present as well. Matt test-drove the luxurious Ferrari F8 model.

Matthew Todd Lauer was born on 30 December 1957, in New York, USA, one of two children born to Jay Robert Lauer, a bicycle-company executive, and his wife Marilyn Lauer, a boutique owner. His parents divorced when he was still a child, which affected him negatively.

After high school, Matt enrolled at Ohio University, but dropped out in 1979 to focus on his career; nevertheless, he returned to Ohio University’s Cripps College of Communication, School of Media Arts and Studies at the age of 39 to finish his studies.

Matt’s career started in the late ’70s, when he became a producer for WOWK-TV in Huntington, West Virginia of the noon newscast, then the following year, he became the station’s on-air reporter for 6p.m. and 11p.m. newscasts. He was slowly building his career on the East Coast, working for a number of local talk programs, and spent the ’80s working for several news stations, including WWOR-TV, USA Network, WNYW, and ESPN, among many others.

Matt has been married and divorced two times. His first wife was Nancy Alspaugh, with whom he was married from 1982 to 1989.

In 1998, he married Dutch model Annette Roque, with whom he has three children, sons Jack and Thijs, and a daughter Romy.

In 2006, his wife filed for divorce, claiming ‘mental abuse, extreme mental and emotional distress, humiliation, torment, and anxiety’ by Lauer. However, the two reconciled shortly after, but in 2019, the two divorced following the aforementioned sexual harassment incident.
