When he felt confident enough, Josh packed his bags and moved to New York City. There he began writing for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, and soon he made his late-night debut on this show too. On YouTube, his comedic story “Catfishing the KKK” has received over 12 million views.

Josh also tried his luck at the New York Comedy Festival and won New York’s Funniest Comic Award.

In 2017, he began writing comedy sketches for “The Daily Show” hosted by Trevor Noah, with whom he toured on ‘LOUD & CLEAR’. In the same year, Josh had his debut half-hour special on Comedy Central.

In 2020 and ’22, Josh was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, which he shares with the other writers for “The Daily Show”.

Concurrently, Josh worked as a writer for the 2018 TV mini-series “Genies”, in which he also starred with Andy Haynes and Luke Mones. He was also seen performing on the Netflix stand-up show, “The Comedy Lineup”.

In 2021, the TV special “Trevor Noah Presents Josh Johnson: # (Hashtag)” premiered on 18 June. Josh discussed what women should expect in relationships, whether or not his friend’s bird is racist, and how the Coronavirus pandemic affected people’s social lives. The show was named one of the best comedy specials by Vulture Magazine.

Josh also makes music, and his mix-tape album “Elusive” on which he collaborated with American disc jockey Mike Relm, was released on 11 June 2021. The album has 33 songs and can be heard on Spotify.

Josh Johnson launched his self-titled YouTube channel on 10 September 2012, and it’s today subscribed to by over 10,000 people, and all of his videos combined have been viewed over 450,000 times.

The number one most-viewed video on his channel – “Josh Johnson Bridgetown Comedy Festival Full Set” – uploaded on 27 May 2015, has gained over 90,000 views. The majority of comments on this video said that he is ridiculously funny, that they enjoy his sense of humor, and that they appreciated that Josh did not use any curse words.

On his channel, you can watch full episodes of his podcast “The Josh Johnson Show” featuring his hilarious reactions, life stories, and freeform conversations with his fellow comedian Logan Nielsen. The podcast can be heard on Spotify and Apple +.
