Who is Christel Khalil?

Christel Adnana Mina Khalil was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 30 November 1987 – her zodiac sign’s Sagittarius, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress with 19 credits to her name, but one of which has been portraying Lily Winters Ashby in the romantic drama “The Young and the Restless” since 2002. The soap opera was created Lee Phillip Bel and William J. Bell, stars Eric Braeden, Peter Bergman and Doug Davidson, and follows the Abbott and Newman families living in Genoa City, It’s been airing since 1973, today counting over 12,500 episodes, while it’s won 298 of the 1,038 awards for which it’s been nominated.

Early life and education

Christel was raised in Los Angeles alongside her three older brothers, by their Pakistani father and mother of Native American, African-American and European descent; not a lot is known about Christel’s family, as she respects their privacy, but she does have a younger paternal half-sister.

She became interested in acting at a very early age, and was only five years old when she made her debut TV series appearance, in the 1993 episode “My Daughter’s Keeper” of the family comedy “The Sinbad Show”; Christel was seven when she made her debut film appearance, playing Little Girl in the 1995 action science fiction “Dragon Fury”, written and directed by David Heavener, and which starred Richard Lynch, Robert Chapin and Chona Jason. It follows dragon warrior Mason who’s travelled back in time from the year 2099 to 1999, in search of a cure for The Plague.

Christel continued acting throughout her entire education. She studied at a local high school in Los Angeles, and upon matriculating in 2006 didn’t enroll at college, but chose to instead pursue her acting career.

Christel played Child in Classroom in the popular 1996 family fantasy comedy “Matilda”, directed by Danny DeVito, who also starred in it alongside Rhea Perlman and Mara Wilson; it follows a girl who has psychic powers, and the movie won three of the 10 awards for which it was nominated.

Christel played Diana in the 1997 short drama “You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Christmas Party”, and portrayed Young Claire Mullins in the 1998 horror “Milo”.

In 2002, she was cast to play Babysitter in the drama “Interview with the Assassin”, written and directed by Neil Burger, and which starred Dylan Haggerty, Raymond J. Barry and Renee Faia. It follows former Marine Walter Ohlinger who has things to say about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and the movie won two of the five awards for which it was nominated.

Christel played Angela in the 1996 episode “Karate Kids” of the popular adventure comedy drama “Family Matters”, created by William Bickley and Robert L. Boyett, and which starred Reginald VelJohnson, Jaleel White and Kellie Shanygne Williams. It follows the lives of members of the Winslow family, the series aired from 1989 to 1998, and won nine of the 27 awards for which it was nominated.

Christel portrayed Kid #3 in the 1997 episode “The Halloween Show” of the comedy “George & Leo”, Crystal in the 2004 episode “The Dating Shame” of the family fantasy comedy “That’s So Raven”, and Kristin Peterson in the 2006 episode “Lois Strikes Back” of the family comedy “Malcolm in the Middle”.

Between 2004 and 2006, she voiced one of the lead characters Cornelia Hale in the animated action adventure “W. I. T. C. H.”; it also starred Kelly Stables and Candi Milo, follows five teenage girls as they’re guarding the walls between universes, and the series was nominated for a Casting of Society of America Artios Award for Best Animated Voice-Over Television Casting (Joey Paul Jense).

Christel’s since appeared in only two other TV series: the 2012 episode “Patriot Acts” of the action crime drama “NCIS: Los Angeles”, and the 2012 episode “And the Candy Manwich” of the comedy “2 Broke Girls”.

She exchanged vows with American musician Stephen Hensley in September 2008, in a large ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members; American actor Bryton McClure was the groomsman, while American actress and cast member of “The Young and the Restless” Elizabeth Hendrickson was the bridesmaid. Christel gave birth to their son Michael Caden Hensley on 17 April 2010, and the boy’s godparents are the above-mentioned actor Bryton and American actress Fadhia Marcelin. However, Christel and Stephen divorced in 2011.

From 2011 to 2015, Christen was in a relationship with American bar owner Ray Wicks, and in June 2018, she revealed that she’d been in a relationship with Canadian businessman Sam Restagno for two years. In 2019, Christen and her son moved in with Sam in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but she moved back to Los Angeles a year later.

As of August 2022, Christel’s apparently still in a relationship with Sam Restagno, was once married to Stephen Hensley, and has a son with him.

Christel’s a philanthropist, and in October 2015 modeled for the non-profit organization True Connection.

She’s a supporter of the LGBT community, and voiced her support for same-sex marriage in June 2015.

Christel’s passionate about travelling, and has shared in an interview that it’s her main hobby, because she enjoys learning more about various cultures and meeting new people.

She’s quite active on Instagram, and is today followed by over 100,000 people, while she’s uploaded close to 1,500 pictures onto the network, the majority of which feature her during her everyday life.

Christel’s physically highly active and works out at the gym nearly every day, thus her slim figure.
