Alicia joined Brown University’s gymnastic team in 2006 and during her first year recorded the highest all-round scores, breaking the school’s record; she was crowned ECAC Rookie of the Year for her performance. She later competed in three 2007 National Championships events, and her skills saw her selected to represent the US team in the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.
She later worked as a volunteer assistant coach for her school’s team. During an interview at a Boston Bruins game, she confirmed that she would be retiring in 2009, however, she soon announced that she would continue in elite competition in August 2009. Subsequently, she performed on the beam and vault during the October World Championships, and won the silver and gold medal respectively. In 2011, Sacramone signed a contract with Under Armour, which would provide her with competitive apparel for all her domestic competitions.
