Early life, family, educational background
American beekeeper and administrative assistant Rishia Haas, was born on 17 July 1998, in Anoka, Minnesota, USA, making her a Cancer. She was born to Amy Dickinson and Bill Haas, who sent her to Anoka High School, before she attended Augsburg College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Andrew Scott Zimmern was born on 4 July 1961, of Jewish ancestry in New York City, USA, making him a Cancer. He began cooking in his mid-teens, and subsequently has hosted and co-created several television programs, including “Bizarre Foods America,” “The Zimmern List,” “The Big Food Truck Trip,” and “Andrew Zimmern’s Bizzare World.” He has guest-appeared on “CNN,” and the “Today Show.”
He spent some time homeless of Jewish ancestry due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol in his teens. To survive, he would steal bags and food from cafés and restaurants, keeping what he needed and selling the rest. Andrew turned to these vices following some traumatic family events. In an interview with People, he said, ‘My parents had been divorced for six or seven years at that point, and it was sort of the seminal event of my life’ – the particular event he’s talking about is when his brother was in a coma, in an oxygen tent. Andrew was only 13 at the time, and already battling addiction. However, he still matriculated from Dalton School, then attended Vassar College, but while there, was suspended three times – presumably due to drug or alcohol abuse, and spent a short amount of time in jail. Realizing that he needed to change his ways in order to create a better life for himself, in 1992 he checked himself into a rehab facility in Minneapolis, apparently successfully – 2022 marked 30 years of sobriety.
Andrew worked at Café Un Deux Trois in Minneapolis’ Foshay Tower as an executive chef for four-and-a-half years, and from there he gained popularity everywhere he went, perfecting his culinary craft. On 1 November 2006, his show, “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” premiered on the Travel Channel, and although he was becoming famous from the show; his work hours were getting in the way of his marriage. ‘I wasn’t there for my wife, and I wasn’t there for my son. My wife gave me a thousand chances to make it right,’ he told The New York Times. He was soon known as the face of the Travel Channel; he’s also worked as a general manager or executive chef at several high-end New York restaurants.
Andrew has put his wisdom and knowledge on paper by publishing a few books, including 2009’s “The Bizarre Truth: How I Walked out the Door Mouth First… and Came Back Shaking My Head,” and 2012’s “Andrew Zimmern’s Field Guide to Exceptionally Weird, Wild, and Wonderful Foods.” He is also an occasional columnist at Mpls St. Paul Magazine, and is a senior editor at Delta Sky magazine.

He’s received three James Beard Awards in the Outstanding TV Food Personality category, in 2010, 2013 and 2017. As of 2023, Andrew’s net worth is estimated at $8 million thanks to having many different avenues of income.

Rishia and Andrew met in the late 1990s at a cooking school where they were both working; Rishia was in the admin department, and Andrew was a teacher. They married on 26 December 2002 in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family, held at St. Paul Judge Roseanne Nathanson, Minneapolis. To celebrate their one-month marriage anniversary, they invited their extended family for a big party. Despite their 20-year age gap, Rishia and Andrew were madly in love according to multiple sources, having mutual interests such as traveling and food. In 2005, Rishia gave birth to their son, Noah Zimmern.
In 2018, the couple filed for divorce – their split came as a surprise to the public because they were together for over 15 years at that point; they’ve never spoken about why they decided to part ways, but upon their divorce settlement, they agreed to co-parent Noah and share custody of him. Andrew’s social media posts often consist of posts with or of Noah, such as in 2016 when he shared a photo of the two of them celebrating Father’s Day at the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen.
